Handball rule is changing again

Are they imagining a goalkeeper punching the ball from their own penalty area all the way into the opposition goal? Don't think even Ederson can do that - but would love to see it, even if it is ruled out!

Ha, no. It's to cover a goalkeeper up for a corner.
The standard rules say a keeper can handle the ball in the area, this is to point out specifically that an outfield keeper can't accidentally knock the ball in.

I'm fairly certain it's as likely to happen as a corner going into the attacker's goal - that doesn't count either.

Whatever the rule is,
  1. It should be the same for all players
  2. It should be simple
  3. It should not include references to what it could lead to
  4. It should not have phrases that are open to interpretation , beyond 'accidental'
Can't remember the handball rule or offside rule being this contentious in the 60's / 70's apart from the Leeds / WBA game
5. The rule shouldn't change half way into the season after other teams have benefitted/fallen foul of the rule...

So why mention it? Clearly once a goalkeeper is outside his own area he can't handle it.
