Hansen, Lawrensen and Shearer bring shame on the BBC

This "let's get people into trouble because they said something nasty about our player" vibe is a bit shit really.
tbf i think that's a bit simplistic

some posters are fed up with the seemingly systematic degradation of a young person in front of impressionable tv viewers therefore stigmatising their character making it more difficult for them to develop

When the BBC have sent you the machine generated response you might want to email Head of Sport Ms Slater and if she backs Lawrenson & Co. contact the BBC trust. Things will only change if BBC Sport is embarrassed or cornered.

Someone mentioned Garth Crooks and his "support" for the anti Balo stuff. Mr Crooks pays his mortgage by fitting in with people he works with but then he's hardly a Malcolm X type is he. Incidentally, Ian Wright left the Match of the Day sofa a while back. I wonder if he heard something unsavoury when the cameras were turned off?
UNCLE TOMS!
going back to masser crooks and masser wright both are totally blind when it comes to racisim and both are definately old school pros who would rather be in the bar with hansen lawro and shearer lapping up their every words.................dont get me started and dont mention digger barnes hes prime suspect no 1

Guess it goes well with that comedy blog article you sent a link to. 'We cracked the BBC's secret racist code' or whatever it's called. I'm a big fan of conspiracies but i'm afraid I just don't buy this one.

At the end of the day Alan Hansen and friends are paid to provide an opinion and as the saying goes 'you cant please everybody all of the time'. The minute he says something racist about Mario then I will join in with this campaign but as far as I'm concerned the BBC pundit's have only ever questioned his attitude and that has nothing to do with his race.

As Didsbury Dave points out the whole thread is an embarrassment and I seriously hope opposing fans aren't reading this as they will be having a right old laugh at our expense. Just as we did when Kenny Dalglish claimed there was a conspiracy against Liverpool FC last season for all manner of things.

Seriously, lighten up, get off your pointless crusade, enjoy life and stop making our club look stupid[/quote]

How odd....some guy who joined a few days ago lecturing us about in his words a "Pointless crusade".
I often wonder what paid media type's lurk hidden in the shadows on this site suddenly springing into life to protect undeclared interests and attempt to deflect or limit or argue against potentially damaging comments to clients developing to a wider audience.
Its called democratic freedom to exercise an opinion and the "Stop making our club look stupid " is at best juvinile.
Its nothing to do with the Football club, the opinions on this issue are genuine and a serious concern to the individual fans. I believe its like like throwing a small pebble into a pond which starting to create ripples outward to the establishment.
Or maybe I am just an old cynical hippie

Here's what the BBC Editorial Code says;

Seems clear enough to me. Saying about someone that "if their brains were petrol they wouldn't have enough to get out of the garage" breaches that.

Let's disregard the fact that it's clearly a joke and make a series of grand assumptions. Let's assume that the half dozen emails sent by kids on here got past the £16K a year lacky who's job it is to knock-up stock responses to these kind of Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells emails. Let's assume that someone actually cared enough to look at this comment seriously and try to assess whether it was a breach of this clause.

Shall I show you the item which the solicitor reprenting Hansen or Lawrenson or whichever smug pundit came out with this comment would present as his only piece of evidence?

Case closed, without even needing a diagram of a garage or an engine.

Let's be quite clear here. If brains were petrol he'd stick a match inside his own head to have a look how much was in the tank.
so in your world if someone makes a bit if a gaff its ok to constantly ridicule them in front of millions of people?
seems fair

no agenda yourself dave?
I said earlier, squirty, my agenda is common sense. And a little embarrassment because if I saw this on a united forum I'd piss myself laughing.

I assume you think I am in some way against Mario balotelli. Let me just clarify things. I think balotelli is a top class player. He works hard, he's quick, he's got vision, he's a clever mover, a good finisher and a stunning striker of the ball. I've believed that since his first game, and have defended him consistently on this forum. I'm glad he's staying at city and I even enjoy his antics-off the pitch. On the pitch I accept that, like many genius players(and I think he can be that), he does daft stuff. It's a problem, but one I hope he and the manager can go some way towards solving. But it will always come with the territory.

My problem here is that arseclenchingly embarrassing blog and this daft 'crusade'. We are not defending mother Theresa against the slings and arrows of the heathens. This is not some poor innocent kid being bullied.

The man's a fucking headcase. A loose cannon. A sandwich short of a picnic. Everyone knows that. He appears to go out of his way to prove that point every other week. Hell, i think he cultivates the image and it will make him a very wealthy man.

To deny that is delusion.

The BBC made a few jibes, to an audience of English people, for an England game, just like theyve been doing for 50 years. At worst it was vaguely jingoistic. Big deal. Move on. Stop taking yourselves so seriously. None of you gave a fuck until it happened to be a city player.

The whole world is not out to persecute mamchester city. It never was. It's your paranoia.

We are the champions. Enjoy life and let it go.

Oh dear, now a poster suggests that there are 'paid media type's lurk hidden in the shadows on this site'. It really is developing a scouse life of its own this one.

City fans feel persecution complex by the media over last few years
City fans find potential cause célèbre in young black footballer
City fans play the race card with young black footballer

Wondering if there is something more sinister with how posters on here are using Balotelli than first met the eye, think we may be using him here as much as the media do to sell papers

Pretty certain telling Mario that he is not being criticised by the media because of his behaviour, but because of his skin colour is not going to do his personal development as a man any good. He needs to change. And that change will be how he acts on and off the pitch, not his race

Still confused as to why nobody in the country except a few radicalised City supporters on here has noticed this racist attitude by the BBC, why do you race card players think this is? Ok so you have already mentioned Crooks, Barnes and Wright are in on it with the white hegemony, but theres more black people in this country than that, I've seen them. Why are they so quiet?

Is it because your agenda here is purely for a football club, not an individual? And your using that individual to further a football clubs cause in an insidious manner?

Or are radicalised City supporters the only people in the country who can spot institutionalised racism?

So many questions, any answers?

Aha, but I love the fact that DD thinks I am a kid............. if only DD, if only (& knew what I know now!!) ;-)

p.s I didn't complain about racism though, because I didn't hear any, not saying it wasn't there but just wanted the BBC to be aware that fans are not enamoured of commentators who think that they can get away with insults they would not say to a person's face.

They're even more powerful and insightful than that, the city Internet militants. Last year they uncovered that all the referees were paid to make decisions against us, and that the whole of football, from Uefa, down to the FA, Via Sky sports, the newspapers and the BBC, were working in tandem to make sure we didn't win the league.

Im so glad we've got these guys on our side. And what an amazing coincidence that they all support city- the very club suffering all these indignities.
