How could you hate City?

All we had then was that we were liked by fans in other clubs in way we are not now and being Blue singled you out as real. But how much is that worth, because we were also seen as harmless failures and those same fans of other clubs now see us as gatecrashers with no past. It will take many years for the wider world to understand the truth - that we are and always were a great club who had a 25 year dark period - and in large part that’s Swales fault. So give me being hated and a light show any day of the week. I was a child who chose to be Blue thirty years ago, I think I’ve earned a light show.

nah, the ship was listing for years, but could be saved with the right man, swales actually never capsized it, that came from the next regiem.

I was taught never to speak ill of the dead. Peter Swales tests that rule regularly, along with others much worse.

I think both were caught on the hop by football finance changing with the advent of the pl and sky money. Swales was very much in the 50's-70's mould of a chairman being a local Rotarian done good. Frannys bog roll money was just not enough to compete by the time he took control - also swales had left him a mess.

Franny remains a hero as a player but he was out of his depth as a chairman and appointed his mate rather than a half-decent manager.
