I think the nine day time table was Pentecost which was after ascension day but I do confess to it being a little confusing. Was it the holy spirit that "descended" on Pentecost day.

Ascension day is 40 days, Pentacost is after 50 days but as one is always a thursday and the other a sunday after it works out 9 days.

I know the Catholics moved ascension from the traditional Thursday to the following Sunday being the Sunday before Pentecost. to not only piss off the protestants but also to also induce a better turn out on the pews.

I was just staring into space as you do on Sunday mornings and gathering my thoughts, when straight into my head for no apparent reason came the words of the Apostles Creed that we had to learn as kids. It got me to thinking how really clever the human brain is by storing this long passage to file and memory for 54 archival years until just this second, and yet I can recite it word for word. Maybe there is hope for me yet. I still cant find my keys when I want them though : /

I imagine that resurrection stories around the Vernal Equinox (as well as the Winter Solstice) go back a long long way.
