Harry Kane

One of the weirder parts of this transfer is seeing Spurs fans who fancy themselves as some type of wheeler dealer Apprentice contestant who are on social media saying things like "Won't even consider it for less than £170m". What a weird way to support a football team, fantasizing about getting extra money for your best player. At least the Villa fans silliness was driven by a desire to not lose their best player who they like seeing play week after week.
When you’re able to pay the highest season ticket prices, it suggests you’re entitled to think that you know about money.
When you have that money and are paying those prices to watch Tottenham Hotspur, however, it suggests you don’t know much about football.

You're right, as it happens Haaland would be cheaper next summer.
Don't kid yourself. A release fee simply opens a door for clubs to bid.

If Haaland has another good season, I'd expect an auction next summer involving at least three PL clubs and a couple from overseas, with top bids in the region of £170m to £180m.

Kane this summer is the wise buy. If we wait for Haaland next year, we'll probably our fingers burned.

Nobody will be paying more than the release fee. The 'auction' will be about how much clubs are willing to pay Club Haaland
