Harry Maguire

Did you see them play together against Holland? They were dreadful.
Fuck me mate it was the end of a long season for them, as it was for all of them.

I bet the pair of them 9 times out of 10 don't get caught out in those situations.

I think Maguire will come to us as a rough diamond, pep will get in his head and get him playing with courage and he'll end up being fuckin immense.

Let's get behind the lad for once instead of everybody turning up with half empty glasses.

If he does sign for us we will be buying one of the most consistent CB's in the league for the past 4 years and has everything city need right now besides Laporte at the back honestly i can not see what the hate is only gripe i might have is the price but city will only pay if they feel he is worth it.

It seems Pep and Txiki are still working on the defensive part of our squad. Highest improvability there, relative to other parts.
Cancelo, Angelino, Rodri, Maguire.

Especially height seems to be addressed (after listening to Pep re our weaknesses)
through Rodri and now maybe Maguire, certainly one of the top PL CBs.
Pep often said he needed Fern for corners or set pieces to support our CBs with his aerial presence, even without being really tall.

Maguire isn't slow over a longer distance, remember his sprint down our right flank.
Tall players have a disadvantage over the first yards but can accelerate over distance using their long legs. Remember Yaya. Or Bolt. - Fair comparison... ;-)

You just cannot have it both. Height - or pace on the 1st yards. You have to decide.
Anatomic rules and leverage effects. Pep surely is aware.

Will Maguire be the best solution? Not sure. There are better CBs out there, but no homegrowns if that is a key factor.

Are better CBs possible as a transfer target? Not sure again. We know about problems involved with De Ligt or Koulibaly. Others like Van Dijk are not in the market.

If Pep wants to address especially height Maguire is a good solution. Young Tosin has it too, but maybe won't get to top level.
Anyway we would improve that department. In front of both ends of the pitch.

Bad news for our opponents is the fact Pep further wants to improve an already fourmidable squad. :)
I like the fella. He looks clumsy but is actually a calm presence and is great with his feet and is great for his aerial ability. The only slight negative is a bit slow off the mark which you can get away with in a defensive side but when opponents hit us on the break that ball over the top on our left hand side would be a problem and could leave him exposed. I trust Pep with what he has in mind and end of the day we normally have at least 70% possession in each game. He would be a great addition and another string to our bow on set pieces. If signed we could potentially have a Yorkshire back 4 next season although can’t see Delph playing there ever again.

I’m absolutely certain his arrival would strengthen our squad. In terms of 0-100 I’d say it would improve from 95% to 96%.

Cancelo would get us back down to the 93% to 95% ballpark figure.

If Maguire does come in, or De Ligt or the lad from Napoli, where does this, realistically, leave John Stones now and in the future?
Think the question is where does it leave Otamendi, 3 senior centre backs is manageable game wise around 40 games each. 4 seniors is harder Otamendi wasn’t happy with his games despite Kompany missing games injured.

Depends on him.

If he performs like he did first half of last season, he'll play regularly. If he plays like he did 2nd half, he'll play in the League Cup then probably get his cards at the end of the season.

Very confident that Nico won't be around next season . I'd go if I was him

Oh I'll get behind him if he pulls that blue shirt on as I do all our players. He'll help against the more physical teams as Kompany did.
