Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes that Manchester City could be genuine challengers for the Premier League title this season.
The Spurs boss may be disappointed that his side’s 100 per cent record has come to a screeching halt at the hands of Manchester United, but he feels that the Red Devils’ arch-rivals are the real deal, particularly after their performance against Arsenal.
"City will threaten everyone," he said to ESPN.
"They have to with the players they have brought in. It will be interesting game between City and United next week, they look like they can beat anyone."
Redknapp hinted that he had attempted to sign a number of players that eventually opted for City instead.
Among the names was man of the moment Emmanuel Adebayor, who has evoked a furious response from Arsenal fans for his controversial goal celebration against his former club. The Togo man sprinted the full length of the pitch in an earnest impersonation of Usain Bolt, passionately celebrating his decisive header right in front of the travelling supporters.
"I tried to sign three or four of them but I couldn't get near them,†Redknapp said.
"[Joleon] Lescott, [Kolo] Toure, [Emmanuel] Adebayor, [Gareth] Barry are top players. It will be an interesting title race. They could do anything, anything's possible. They have a strong enough squad."

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has described cash-rich Manchester City as a "massive threat" to the established top four in the Premier League this season.
"The top four places will certainly be up for grabs, but we want to make sure we are up there," said Carragher. "With the other teams becoming involved hopefully they will take points off the other big sides as well.''
"They [Manchester City] have got some great players, world-class players and I am sure they will be buying more in January, so they are going to be a massive threat.''
