Microsoft Windows technical people, I have but fucked the guy off and put the phone down, for one I am not sure why he was phoning me, I have had pc problems but it was my hard drive and is being sorted, and two I wondered if it was a scam

Can anyone shed any light?

If you've never given your number to Microsoft , or asked them to ring you for any reason , how could they have it?

It 's probably someone tryin' it on to get some 'dodgy' details off you ...... in my opinion you did the right thing ...... providin' you're using legit software microsoft would probably just email you , or message you , via your computer screen in some way.

Thought so, the guy was foreign but it sounded like he was in a call centre, and if Microsoft/windows tech wanted to get in touch it would be by e-mail

Cheers for the response fellas

Its a scam. They want you to give over credit card details so you can buy some anti-virus software' as they "have seen unusual activity on the internet connection".
My parents got the same call whilst I was there so my Dad handed the phone to me.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" I asked
"Unusual activity on your internet connection"
"How have you seen that then?"
"We have seen unusual activity"
"How?"
"........."
"You're speaking bollocks. Now fuck off"

Don't think they've phoned my Dad back since.

kept some fella on the phone for about an hour the other day

saying i had viruses and malwear(sp?) on my comp

kept on asking how he knew this he wouldn't give me a straight answer
must have asked him about 20 times so i just decided to be
a **** with him

then he said it would cost £1300 to get a new IP address because mine would be black listed

so i just asked if that was including VAT

he said no

so i then spent 15 mins pretending to work out the VAT

then said bollocks they have changed it to 20%

then spent another 10 mins working out what it is at 20%

then said that sounds a good deal can i have a new IP address

he said i can buy his softwear for £300 so i said does that include VAT

he put the phone down after 5 mins of working out the VAT on that

I had the same call the other day!

I thought i'd have a giggle, so let him go through his spiel!

"sir, can you type this in the address bar, <a class="postlink" href="http://www.___________" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.___________</a>" "No i can't" i reply.
"well sir i have on my machine critical error messages from your computer, if you do as i say, i can fix it" "oh ok then, what do i do"
"Type this in your address bar <a class="postlink" href="http://www._______" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www._______</a>""what address bar"
"on the top of the page""what page"
"on your computer""i don't have a computer"
"on your laptop then""i don't have a laptop"
"sir why are you wasting my time""hold on there's someone at the door"
"sir, sir, sir, sir,""yes"
"fuck you your mother has sex with goats""thanks, bye"
