Has the BBC become a Tory tool?

The Tories have trashed this country for years to come and everyone knows it.
The only vote winner they have left is to pander to the anti immigration fears of the hard of thinking, which is what the whole anti asylum seeking boat people witch hunt is about.
They couldn't allow Lineker to stick his oar into that, could they?
I'm not sure that is going to work tbh. The immigration asylum mess happened on their watch. No one else's.

I said this months ago in this same thread - I would rather the BBC endured, and took a "bend don't break" point of view because this government is not forever. They will be voted out, and as tonight has shown the rank and file journalists, presenters and talent at the BBC believe in its neutrality and founding principles.

Hopefully in a few years we'll be looking at this as a dark chapter in the BBC's storied history that it's recovering from instead of the final chapter.

I think that is a bit naive. The government may well swap over a few times, but the division, the 'culture' war and the appetite for the rhetoric will always be there, the BBC have simply been backed to pick a side. And they will always have an audience, including those that oppose their stance. It isn't as recent as people think either, it has been obvious for over a decade now, but has likely been happening before people clicked to it.

Not heard a pundit or any fluffy talk for years apart from the odd minute of so when I think a raggy one's head is about to explode.

Live games on TV it's whistle to whistle them I'm away same as when I'm at the game.

Motd the hour plus show is condensed into 40 mins of fast forwarding to watch the ball being kicked if I watch it. I knew last week we'd be shown as Barnsley getting a rear guard result against a Newcastle/Brazil XI so ducked it as I do most of the time.

How about the lady who said exactly the same as Lineker, direct to Braverman. She went through that period and stated that the rhetoric was that of 1930’s Germany. Are you saying that she didn’t fully understand what occurred back then?
Well you will get people who agree of course. But check out the articles about holocaust trivilisation , there are many on the Internet. It's been a topic that has come to the fore in recent years.

The comparison was a poor one imo. Regardless of his or your or anyones dislike of this government, their language isn't the same as the hate and bile spewed by the nazi government. Comparing the too surely leads to belittling the evil that occurred in 1930s Germany. I do have an issue with that.

Its all too easy to throw insults and make comparisons like this these days and i think those that do don't fully understand what occurred back then. It trivialises an awful nadir in European history.

Worth a listen...

Of course not, it was just interesting that on social media there is seemingly near hysteria as on here, yet you mention it in everyday life and no one seems to care that much. The reaction overwhelmingly is well its Gary Lineker, he's a bit of a berk so no great loss. Perhaps he should have stuck to the job rules? It was just an observation nothing more.
Again, where are these job rules? Lineker has stated that there is nothing within his contract that stops him from sharing personal thoughts yet you state that there is. Who is right?

Very simply, the government didn’t like to be called out and the decision was politically motivated.

Out of interest, have you not seen the language that Lineker is talking about?

Have you not seen the backlash from all the human rights groups, including the UN?
