Has the BBC become a Tory tool?

Of course not, it was just interesting that on social media their is seemingly near hysteria as on here, yet you mention it in everyday life and no one seems to care that much. The reaction overwhelmingly is well its Gary Lineker, he's a bit of a berk so no great loss. Perhaps he should have stuck to the job rules? It was just an observation nothing more.
The problem is that we could have had this same conversation back in the early 30's minus the social media aspect. They got away with it and of course hugely escalated. We'll only know after the fact where we're heading. As a slight aside I'm seriously worried where the world in general is going.

But, clearly, he wasn't referencing the "awful nadir" part. He was referring to the language used in the period that eventually led to that awful nadir. That's why he specifically used the word "language".
I can see that, but he made that comparison because of the link to nazi Germany. He could have compared the UK government's stance and rhetoric to that of the USAs in recent times ans their border policies. But that wouldn't have had the same impact would it. He deliberately chose the worst government by far in recent history.

Doesn't matter what I'm happy with. GL signed a contract. He's breached it.

If he quits the BBC he can say whatever he likes. It's quite simple really.
Lineker tweets politically all the time and it has been previously established that his social media is private amd not tied to his BBC contract.

This is the first time.he has directly critcised a government policy and at present those running the beeb who were appointed by the government and are donors of the tory party seem to have taken umbridge to it personally rather than him breach any contractual comitments.

If his personal twitter was linked to his contract he would have been gone years ago

Mention it in everyday life? It's only just happened. How many peoples opinion have you canvassed?

The few people I have spoke to think the Beeb have dropped a bollock but I'm not claiming that means anything.

People overwhelming think Lineker is a berk? Erm......

They should give us soundtrack options. Babbling brook, rainforest animals or thunderstorm

I sleep every night to the sounds of thunderstorms from the Alexa, wonderful and it works.

Anyway, MotD? Fuck that, nothing will get me watching that shite.

Brilliant. Now the government are saying it’s between the BBC and Lineker. Have we not seen all these Cabinet members exerting pressure on the BBC?

Must be seeing things.
So the government in no shape or form did not contact The BBC concerning Linekers tweet or Sir David Attenborough pulled interview?

Seems legit.....

I'm actually amazed that the thread has the title as a question. And that some think it's not the case.

I can only presume that when you're stood that extremely far over to the right, everything else appears to be to the left. This government are slowly whipping up hatred, currently for migrants, as a form of keeping control by division. Where will they stop? Who knows. Everyone who wants this to be a decent country should call them out when needed.
