Posted another thread about my sound problem. Every time I retrieve my sound and go on youtube only, may I add my sound disappears and I have to cycle through the same procedures again.Spotify is ok.My own music files are ok.Playing youtube videos on bluemoon has caused the same problem.Cost me hours of fiddling about this.

Ofc, youtube has a virus and the internet will go down and we will all die.

But seriously, its your PC, all you say is your sound disappears, which means absolutly nothing in technical terms.

Your right mate no info really.
Here we go then. Audio device keeps disappearing.A Small red x next to the sound icon on the task bar. Now and again Recovery manager via hard drive reinstaller gets it back but not always. Device manager doesn’t allow me to update driver or uninstall hardware because the sound device which is conextant on vista disappears from amongst the list enabling me to update the hardware settings and driver software. Have used different search engines, when i do retrieve sound such as Google chrome and firefox.Sound will just cut out or other times a site will say plug in has crashed. I update the shock player the particular site recomends,no joy.I have updated Adobe flash players on firefox.Funnily enough My Laptop wont let me uninstall Conextant HD Audio via control panel it just sits there untouchable amongst the Programs and features. New laptop for Crimbo methinks..

try rolling back in recovery as far back as you can, see if its still giving you gip. if not id then uninstall the device set restore point then restart the machine, it should then get picked up in hardware manager and reinstal auto***make sure you have all drivers to hand though****

Thanks Damocles for the link.Actually the Decrapifier said it had been removed succesfully, yet it didnt shift it,its still sat there.
timesprout I have restored the lap top to every available system restore date, having eventually to resort to factory settings and again the dreaded red cross appeared after that. Apparently this has been occurring amongst windows vista users as far back as 2008.This link just displays the severity of the problem.
