Noticed on a YouTube clip from 1980 Beckenbauer playing against City for the Cosmos in a friendly.
Have the other great world stars (eg the Cruyffs, Peles, Maradonas and Messis etc) ever played us - and if so did anyone see it? Anything to report? I suppose the Winker will go down in that class.

i can never understand why george best is considered a great , he won a couple of medals , never played in a world cup , and he pissed his career up the wall at 26 , a total loser . The only time i have seen the liver thief play was against city in the 60's and 70's and Tony Book had him in his back pocket everytime he played against us , he must have been the most overrated player that ever drew breath , but i suppose its all part of the bullshit that surrounds the swamp dwellers.

I was there when we beat Barca 1-0 and Messi and Ibrahimovich came on as subs. Not any vivid memories of the two players accept arriving at the ground and few people were around and depressed how souless the game would be only to walk in the ground and it was packed with 90,000 plus. Guy called Toure in midfield for Barca, looked pretty lazy to me :-)

On the flip side Gary Neville has a treasure chest of medals and caps ,I gather then you have up with the all time greats.

I don't like to admit it, but I suppose Ronaldo has to be in there for both the rags and RM.

Probably watched best in about 12 to 15 derby games , and he was a nothing player , his claim to fame was scoring 6 goals against a 4th division side in a fa cup game , and why would i refer to another yooonited player like neville as world class ? Touched a nerve have I ??
