Just curious, have bought an Xbox 360 to sit beside the ps3.

Have had a nightmare trying to get the thing to go wireless, went out bought the Microsoft wireless adaptor, found my wireless network added my WPA key, bingo connected (so I thought ),system said connected but nothing, was at it for hours ,even took all security and firewalls of my network still nothing.

Took the Xbox 360 back to Argos saying it was knackered, they replaced it no problems, even exchanged the wireless adaptor, got back home set it up exactly the same problem 360 says connected but nothing.

Have now conceded defeat and have set my wireless router next to the 360 with a Ethernet cable and banged a wireless card in my PC, seems the only solution, have spoken to a couple of mates who also bought the Microsoft wireless adaptor and ended up doing the same thing.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

As it stands going back with adaptor for my

have you checked what the test says yet mate? if not go to your network settings in xbox live and do the test (goes through 5 or 6 six steps) it'll tell where its going wrong

Can you check in your router settings that the xbox has been leased an I.P. address, or maybe even in the Xbox menus?

have no idea how to do that, have been in the router settings and virtually disabled everything trying to connect, strangely the Xbox says it is connected but cant get online, anyway I am thinking it is the router because I am on virgin media I have a tp-link router.

i am taking the network adaptor back today and getting my money back, I phoned some Microsoft employee dickhead in India on a helpline and spent over an hour doing nonsensical shit for him to turn around and say there was sweet fa he could do for me, I despair at these stupid subcontinent help lines just speaking English is a problem so how can they help you..

Anyway thanks for your advice mate.

Just for the record for anyone else stumbling on this post having problems,

Like I said earlier I have give up on the wireless side, and feedback I have had suggests it is a problem with these network adaptors,

If all else fails stick a wireless card in your PC and route your Xbox with the router via Ethernet cable, make sure you have a laptop in the house if your network ever crashes so you can get back online without dragging your PC around the house to your router.

And don’t bother wasting your time phoning there helpline it’s the worst ever, easily beating AOL by a country mile

Fcukin hilarious ha ha ha class mate!!!! ,anyway if you do ever phone the Microsoft helpline you spend 15 minutes going through the options, then you get to speak to an automated American man who try’s to come across like your best mate which is annoying, he fails miserably he sounds more like a jerry Springer contestant on Prozac, he fails trying to sort your problems out, at the end he sounds devastated you never chose an option, before transferring you to an Indian who can barely speak English.

All thanks to Thatcher.

"Where there is a blue screen, let us bring the XP logo...."
