Heartburn

I’ve had no symptoms since the day before my Gastroscopy however the twice a day lansoprazole gave me diarrhoea for a week so GP said do one a day. I took a couple of days off it completely to get back on track, took one pill yesterday and hopefully I can handle it as omeprazole also disagrees with my gut

I didn’t have it in the end as they said it wouldn’t be a full sedation and I’d been allowed to be picked up half an hour later but my missus was not going to be ready for 2 hours. I retched quite a bit but they said the sedation would’ve taken a while to kick in anyway (not sure if they just wanted to avoid sedation) but I didn’t fancy waiting around. Ended up that my missus then came from working when I was at the bus stop home. We went to Didsbury from there

Took sedation, it was still pretty fucking horrible. They put the sedation in, and went straight for it, dont feel it affected anything. Wasn't anxious about it and had no intention of being difficult. Retched and gagged a bunch involuntarily, and it annoyed them but it really was nothing I could help. Now staying to get checked for tears. Guess the old bit of each case is different, at the time.

Sounds from - hope everything is okay and you get sorted

Used to get this regularly but when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes I made a huge effort to lose weight. I'm nearly 2 stone lighter than I was when I was originally diagnosed and haven't had much of a problem since.

Incidentally a similar amount of weight I have put on since covid lockdowns.

Even though im on 40mg Omeprazole I've started to get symptoms again. last few weeks after eating i've been getting the annoying Globus sensation in my throat for a few hours.

Joy.

Second one but I somehow manage to breathe the acid into my lungs as well and the irritation and coughing fits that ensure are off the scale leaving me genuinely worried I’m about to have heart failure.

Just back to this for a moment, as I had mine today with saw the specialist. Obviously each case and doctor is different, so take nothing out of it if it isn't appropriate.

He says the second one that I get, is 'mechanical' and medicines are not something that would help. Omezoprol and the likes are for the other type of heartburn, caused by an imbalance of acid that is pushed out by its own strength. If it it hits the mouth, that's 'regurgitation' reflux. He said finding the source of what causes the stomach to expel it is key, whether stress or types (or quantities) of foods or sleeping positions. The rest will now be a wait for the biopsy results, but in the meantime thought I'd mention. Bear in mind you may well hear or get contrasting advice, so I would still pursue it yourself with doctors.
