Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

I bet some lads on here were born around then so may have had older siblings or a Mam/Dad who went.

Oh to be sure, but I phrased my question carefully. It's about what you, personally, have witnessed. That Liverpool match I describe in the OP, it was not far short of fifty years ago. But I remember it very clearly, not just because of Fairclough, but because I was shocked, in fact. I didn't think that could happen to “my” City. Of course it can, and has — many times.
I actually remember that match of half-a-century ago better than the one on Saturday, weirdly enough. That's already fading, and fast.

Seen us get taken to the cleaners by a Thierry Henry inspired Arsenal. They were the only opposition team I've ever seen clapped off the pitch. I remember being proud we drew the second half 1-1.
The first half of that match was a slaughter. Keegan tried to go toe to toe with them and we got destroyed. Second half we sat back and they knocked off a bit. I also remember them getting clapped off at half time.

I remember losing 5-0 to the Scousers at home in c1982 when they were 5 up after c60 minutes -the same season we won 3-1 at Anfield

Yeah, I remember just being amazed by it rather than pissed off we were losing. Henry was like a superhero to young me. Didnt hurt they were in a title race with the rags and we were comfy in mid table either!

Great post!

Moore better than Beckenbaeur in your opinion? I’m too young to have seen either.

That's a stretch, I'd say (if I can butt in). The problem is that no English fan has seen Beckenbauer anything like the number of times they got to see Moore. So it's difficult to compare them fairly. Probably the best English defender ever.

That was the vintage Henry Arsenal, wasn't it? I can't imagine any circumstances in which I could clap a Spurs team off the field, but I probably would have done for that Arsenal team had I been there.
If that the time it was Wenger vs Joe Royle. It was hilarious City fans could have called for Royles head but instead they turned in a real City fans performance. Self deprecating chants - boring boring Arsenal and so many more - in the end even Wenger was laughing. Laughed so much.... so proud to be a blue
IIRC Arsenal brought Viera and Henry on late on from the bench and it was “Who the Fucking Hell are You” from the Kippax -fanatic stuff -then and now looking back
