I have an ipod touch connected to a laptop which has all my music. I have a new laptop which has music on there too which i want to transfer onto the ipod. When i connect the ipod to new pc it recognises it as mine but wants to delete all ipod music and replace it with new laptop music which i dont want as i want to keep whats on the ipod. I have turned off "sync". I guess its an apple thing where they want me to make sure i have paid for the music. Apparently you have to change certain settings on the pc. Using windows 7.

They only let you sunc with one 'library' so when you plug into a new/different laptop it assumes oyu are creating a new library for some bizzarre reason - and yes probably to stop you 'sharing' music or summat.

I'm not technical about these things and this is probably very long winded, but you could save your music on lappie 1 onto a pen drive, transfer it to lappie 2 and thus into your original library and then sync it.

Other than that, the supertechs on here can probably help better.

You need to go into your control panel on PC, and in folder settings, enable 'view hidden folders'.

Then go into Computer option is start menu, and open up your iPod, this will now display the hidden folders where the music is stored.

All the songs, albums etc will be all jumbled up across many folders, but copy and paste all the folders from your iPod into the music folder of your PC.

Once this has finished, open iTunes, click on file, the add folder to library, then select all the folders copied from your iPod, and it will import all the music into your new iTunes library.

Then let iTunes sync your iPod, and all your music will transfer back onto it.

Try SharePod. Free, standalone program you can use instead of iTunes and sync with multiple PCs.

Something that worked for me was untick "sync only ticked songs and videos" and tick "Manually manage music and videos". It worked for me, all you need to do when you want extra tracks on the ipod is drag from the library over to where it says your ipod.

On the 2nd laptop when you start iTunes and connect the iPod, select the manage music manually option, you can then drag and drop music onto the iPod.

When you re-connect to the 1st laptop, don't synch, or it will delete the music from laptop 2.

Bottom line is to manage the device manually on both computers, or consolidate the libraries onto one laptop, or use a 3rd party piece of software.

try CopyTrans Manager its great and no need for itunes and you can use mp3 with tag

Im not well up on these things but try <a class="postlink" href="http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751</a>

I think basically you copy your library from I tunes on your existing PC/Laptop, this should be c/music/itunes or something like that.
You copy this to an external drive, plug this into your new machine, find the c/music/itunes and replace the libaray file with the one copied onto the external drive? I dont totally know but cant see why this wouldnt work

This.

The wife has iphone., an iPod for gym and the daughter has an iPod as well. ITunes is the most frustrating piece of shite going. Copytrans manager is so simple. Just drag and drop your music files onto shitephone or shitepod.
