Any of you Blues help out here.
As soon as i increase the volume icon,i get this high pitched whistle, like what you would get from a dodgy mic.
It's like feedback, but really loud whistling noise.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like there is a listening device or bug in the vicinity. You been doing something you shouldn't?

not that i know of,was listening to music the other night with earplugs in when it started.
now does it all the time.

switch off the mic,
Or remove the CD?
Seriously, do you get the noise in the earphones, or is it from the PC itself?

go to marks and spencers and buy a pair of knickers in the right size for a snug fit. pull them over the computer. you should find this will do the trick and stop the whistling.

it works with my wife when there`s a bit of a breeze

Could be the fans in the laptop working overtime, happens when they get clogged up with dust, but I'm only guessing.

Sounds like intereferences... have you moved your laptop? Any power supplies right next to it?

no mate, been in the same position for 18 months.
my mrs has just informed me she plugged the earphones into the wrong connection for a few minutes.
dont know whether thats relevant or not.

Sounds like the outer cover has been bent, thereby making it touch some component(mostly the hard disk ) inside , thus creating the whistling noise.Check for an uneven part of the surface on your laptop. Mine had the same problem, and whistling noise occured.
