Hemel Hempstead

Hemel Hempstead is a dump, my old companies European HQ was there.

Taxi to Watford (about £25-30) for livelier nightlife and lots of other blues

Taxi to St Albans (about £15-20) for some good boozers and restaurants smaller and quieter than Watford

Staying in Hemel, town centre is garbage, but about 1 mile away from the premier inn is the "Old Town" which consists of a handful of good restaurants and old fashioned pubs (real ales etc..) which is about the best bet if you want to stay closer to your hotel.
