2 months ago in Aberystwyth general. Dr Salami was the surgeon. Nice guy.
Went in for keyhole surgery whereby they put a mesh in between the whatnot and the thingymabob and I now look like I've been run through by a pitchfork.
All the usual questions and paperwork just prior to the op then the needle where they administer the knock out drops. Didn't even realise I was being given the anesthetic and went out like a light.
Missed the nurse tidying me up 'downstairs' but it does give you a pleasant sense of wellbeing afterwards when viewed in a mirror or shop window.
Woke up on the ward and felt OK until the Mrs turned up to collect me a couple of hours later. Worst hangover feeling I've ever had, really bad..... had to get her to stop the car 3 times just so as I could get out and walk around.
Farting, coughing, sneezing, laughing, even having a No2 and getting in and out of a car and bed is painful for at least a week but they do suggest various pain killers, eased up on the lifting at work as you'll always be conscious of it after all that. I'll admit to only taking a couple of paracetamels just in case....
Told not to drive for 2-3 weeks and they suggested I contact my insurance Co. who kindly suggested I contact my Dr, who then suggested I contact my insurance Co. I was driving without a problem after 2 1/2 weeks. Been 8 weeks now and I'm due back for a check up a week today. A few little twinges but all OK so far.
As for playing sports...I'd suggest you talk to a specialist.
