He's not a fullback, he's a Centre Half

Strange to see Nedum in the training session today. I watched him years ago playing centre half for the reserves at Hyde. Told them at work that I had seen a future England player. Stranger things have happened. Look at the current crop.

Lets look at this - he had a full season at Sunderland last year who have lost Anton Ferdinand and they still didn't want him.

No top 6 club coming in for him yet people on this forum still think he's great.

If he hadn't come through City's youth team people probably wouldn't give him a hope in hell of playing for our current team

Would any top 6 club sign Jonny Evans?

He's good enough to be in the squad. Mancini could have easily kept him training with the reserves. Not every player is Kompany.

No they wouldn't and once Fergie sees Jones / smalling can do the job Evans will be gone.

We already have squad players in Kolo and savic also Micah can play there.

I always thought Ned looked better at CB ... just my opinion.

Many centre backs spend some time as fullbacks when they are young if there are worries about their positional sense. It helps limit the damage they can do while they learn the ropes I wouldnt be surprised to see Micah there at some stage in his later career and I dont see why Ned cant be a squad player ability wise but whether his face fits or not well thats another story.

Sunderland offered us £6m for Onouha and we turned them down. Sunderland have also rebuilt their team from Utd hand me downs which they got on the cheap from Fergie. I'm not saying he is in VK's class but he was Captain of England u21s and is a quality PL player easily good enough for our squad. I think he is better than Lescott. I posted a link last night to a "pre-hackergate" thread on Ned: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=184809
It gives a less biased view on his true qualities as a player. On that thread I posted his last 3 player rating from Goal to give an indication of his Sunderland form:
14/5/11 Nedum Onuoha 6.5 Sunderland's best defender on the day, performing his duties in an accomplished fashion
7/5/11 Nedum Onuoha 6.5 The on-loan Manchester City defender had a solid afternoon at right full back, he was kept busy by the lively Taylor but he marshalled him well.
23/4/11 Nedum Onuoha 6.0 Defended well, his pace helped him deal with Rodallega and was always watchful of runners from midfield

Only one reason Sunderland didn't buy Ned and thats because kiss arse Bruce did what his puppet master told him, and that was to buy over rated rag players for silly prices.

Whether you rate Ned or not he's a far better player than brown and a better centre half than O'Shea, though not as versatile granted.
