Hgv tests relaxed by government

Well the experience my company in Germany are having suggests that it’s difficult all over. The fact is even before Brexit and Covid there was a shortage of HGV drivers as lots of older ones left the industry and weren’t replaced. It’s not going to be a quick fix but something needs to be done and making the test one part instead of two should hopefully help.

As I said earlier makes you wonder why it was ever two part in the first place!

Like me my kid brother has let his HGV Class 1 lasp.

He has been driving all his life be it HGV, Driving instructor, taxi driver. He applied to get his HGV back due to being 56 and hadnt driven a HGV for about 6 years. He has got it back and done the required course.

He has applied to lots of companies needing HGV's and not one reply. Clean licence, lots of experience. Now drives a 7 ton on normal licence! ! There might be a shortage but I guess you need to be age below 50.
