Credit to our scouting team if he does impress as there is talent in Japan. I hope we can get a work permit for him.

And cheap as chocolate. German teams are getting them regularly for few hundred thousands. I've watched some report recently, they have scouts all over Japan, they think ti's going to be great market for young talents soon.

Kagawa cost Dortmund €350,000 and United bought him for what could eventually be like £17 million. If anything, there's marketability with these Asian players and also a possible profit.

Yep, United said themselves they bought him for both footballing and marketing reasons. And they were cool to pay 17mil for that. Imagine how cool is when you pay him half million or less.

Exactly, with a player like Kagawa for example, you're getting a very good footballer and also a lot of money from the Asian market who are very likely to buy his United kit, due to United being world famous and him being Japan's best player really.

Edit: Does anyone have any reports/information on this kid btw? Like his potential, whether he'd be pushing to start if he came to us etc.

If we want to cash in on the asian market then i would prefer if we signed a player who's already established and can strengthen the team and i think CSKA's Keisuke Honda fits the bill , IMO he's a far better player than Kagawa and we are in need of central midfielder / deep lying playmaker .

Having watched both Honda and Kagawa play against the Australian team, I agree with you. Honda was superior to Kagawa and a much more dangerous threat.

Plus he looks better than Kagawa . Good looks + Great team performance = Shirt sales in Asia . Lets sign the blonde jap.

Would be cool seeing a asian in sky blue again. Sun Ji Hai was not the best player but became some what a Cult hero for me..

Honda somehow disappeared from focus recently, haven't watched him for a while but I guess there's some reason for it. He was very good in Russia 2-3years ago but he's nowhere to be seen/heard anymore.

That's why most players fear to play in the Russian league . There's a lot of lost / hidden talent in that league . The Russian league can really damage a players career as it isn't as attractive as other leagues in Europe. Honda is still a world class player and its funny how he seems to get better every season , This season seems like his best and yet he hasn't gotten that much media hype / exposure and i think that could work to our favour as his price would be relatively low (Less hype = Lower transfer price). Here's his stats from 2010 - 2012

Russian Premier League
Apps Goals
2010 28 4 5
2011–12 25 8 1
2012–13 19 7 1

7 goals in 19 appearances for a deep lying playmaker is no easy feat
