How city persuaded pep

Don't see much insight in that at all. He's just pieced together the little bits of info that are already out there and joined the dots a bit.

Maybe the true story will come out one day.

Pretty much what I thought when watching that video, just pure guesswork based on what the newspapers have been saying - he hasn't a clue!

He may well have spoken to people at the club but they've given him a version of events that, shall we say, bends the truth. I believe the plan was to sack Mancini in 2012 and get Pep in then. At the time it didn't look like we'd catch the rags and they knew there was going to be trouble between Mancini, Soriano & Begiristain. With the situation being that he only had one year left on his contract, everything was falling into place nicely until those twats from Trafford fucked up and dropped 8 points. Having won the league, they could hardly sack Mancini as it would have been a PR disaster far outweighing the Hughes sacking.

So they had to backtrack, offer Mancini a new contract and leave Pep high and dry. He took a sabbatical, learnt English and took the Bayern job on the understanding he'd come to us after his 3 years was up. Meanwhile, back in Manchester, everything goes as predicted with Mancini, we have to sack him snd go out to get Pellegrini to tide us over.

Sounds plausible.

Pep must really want to be at City if he was happy to wait.

The thing I can't reconcile about this scenario is why he couldn't come to us straight after his sabbatical instead of going to Bayern. He could just have agreed to have a sabbatical, give us another season to sack Mancini and then takeover at City. The other point is why it would have been that much of a problem to sack Mancini even though he did end up winning the league. Chelsea seem to do it and don't give too much thought to what anybody might think. With hindsight,I think it might have been better for our progression and development if Guardiola had come in then rather than Pellegrini.

Bayern announced him as their new coach in January 2013 so he'd obviously been talking to them for some time before that. Crisis point with Mancini didn't occur until February 2013. I'm not sure we could have persuaded him to hang around on the chance we might sack Mancini.

I always think it's quite funny that the Aguero moment was one of the top 5 events in my life but it could well have fucked up City's plans.

That Aguero moment was so good that it even makes up for having to endure Pellegrini for 3 years.

I'm beginning to wonder if it even does at the moment.
Oh yes it does.
It makes up for a lor more than that.
Still makes my nerves go bonk - imagine if he had missed and the sheer delight, and merriment in the rag press?
Instead of which, all that delight snatched away from them in one moment, and decades of pain washed away in our camp.

No matter how bad things may get, we can always relive that moment.

I agree. I went through 30 years of following absolute shite, taking constant abuse from the rags, staying through a sense of duty as opposed to hope.

The last couple of years under Pellegrini have been some of the most frustrating years, we've had the best squad in the league, probably the best squads we've ever had, we should have been dominating, created a dynasty. Instead we've gone backwards at an alarming rate, we're being held back by an incompetent manager.

But it was all worth it for that Aguero moment. I wouldn't change it for the world. That moment, those circumstances, will never be topped by any other club. Even if Leicester win the league this year, it won't top that Aguero moment because their closest rivals haven't been dominating for 25 years. They won't be ripping down the banner. The won't be snatching the title away from their neighbours in the 93rd minute.

The Aguero moment will never be topped by any other club in terms of the emotion and what it meant to the fans. If we never win another trophy and end up back in the 3rd division, I'll die happy knowing I experienced that moment on 13th May 2012.
