How do you assess our transfer business?

Ok given the circumstances. Think we have done well really. If we can move Otters and get a replacement then it’s job done and anything else will be a bonus. Extremely difficult times.

We have bought 2 good players at decent prices

We have failed to remove players which is worrying

Also the great need for a CB pursuit is poor by the club- we may get koulibaly but the players are back now and learning tactics- surely there are people in the club in charge of transfers and they have dwindled about

I thought we really meant business when we got Ake & Torres, which I'm absolutely delighted about but I'm rather disappointed we haven't managed to get anything else over the line since.

Whoever we sign will now be underprepared for the start of the season & will just have to wing it.

My biggest concern is that I'm not convinced we can wing it given the start we've got.

Our first four league games are against Wolves, Leicester, Leeds and Arsenal.

I was really hoping we'd have Koulibaly in by now, and with Mahrez and Laporte having Covid it's even more important we get him in.

With the season starting tomorrow we have thus far added Ake and Ferran. Both seem very astute signings at good fees.

TBH I am disappointed as I did think by this stage KK would be done and I thought we would add at least one of either :

a)proven goalscorer
b)proper left back
c)centre mid to challenge/replace gundogan

All in all with the season starting tomorrow I’m very disappointed in Txiki thus far. Still time to change that of course.
I'd be disappointed if we don't buy KK.

Ake is a good player but KK is an elite player.

I think after the CAS victory and Tolmie's excitement at the beginning of the window most hoped we'd really go for it and strengthen the weak points in the entire team.

Will still maintain that even if we get KK that our defensive/centre midfield is the weakspot and we won't win the league without a Fernandinho type player.

The team went really shaky without him in midfield.

Excited about the two we've signed, i think both will be great additions to our squad.
Personally though, i thought we'd have brought in a couple more quality signings, another CB, maybe a LB & maybe a front man.
Probably being a bit greedy but hey ho

question is have we addressed our vulnerability - if the answer is no - then its not great. If Wolves hit us on the counter next week as they have done previously - then Definitely not. The plan to open up City is still there.

I'm optimistic - but was hoping for a better Centre Half and a better Centre Mid (quick and strong like Ferna)

As already said, way too early to judge.

Get a tune out of Bernardo, Gundo/Rodders and even Stones (although I personally doubt this is possible) it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Can't be too critical of Pep but for me the centre half pairing should be the mainstay of the team. Too much chopping and changing. I get rotation and number of games but can't remember the last time our 2 centre halves looked like a cohesive pair!
The only tune you'd get out of Stones is " Stuck in the middle with you"...

It’s a curious window

COVID in theory shouldn’t effect us too much because we haven’t suffered as much financially as other clubs

the flip side is that we need players out to get players in, and if clubs can’t buy our unwanted players we end up with no room in the squad for new additions
