RUSH, beats all 3 hands down...

Its all about opinions mate but A Farewell to Kings is very high on my list of favourite albums (as are some of Floyds)

If were talking about this progressive genre though King Crimson, early Genesis and Yes top my list with some of the German, Italian & Swedish bands coming very close behind

I agree A farewell to Kings is probably my favourite Rush album, Meddle is my favourite Floyd album and The Snow Goose my favourite Camel album. As you say it's all about opinions and different tastes in music.

Meddle is probably my least favourite PF album, I never got into that Space prog stuff, maybe cos I never liked smoking dope lol

My favoutite album of theirs is Piper, Syd was a genius, and as far as writing goes so was Roger, to write the lyrics he did on WYWH, The Wall & DSOTM is very cosmic (I even liked The Final Cut), he was a shit bassist though lol, of course Daves guitar shines on all their stuff post Syd.

Snow Goose is wonderful mate, I have probably played it a thousand times, Camel were a very underrated band, as were Caravan, as were BJH, as were.................Iona, England, Spring & Sebastian Hardie

Gilmours and Wrights harmonies on Echoes is awesome, and along with Gilmours guitar work is why I love Floyd.

As you say Camel were very underrated, I saw them at The Guildhall Preston in 1980, and they played the whole of "Nude" plus selected pieces from the Snow Goose, it was a really enjoyable show.

Andrew Latimer is a very underrated guitarist in the Grand scheme of things.

I just remembered buying Saucerful when it came out, I was 17 I think, I played it to death (I had played Piper to death before that) but was sad Syd had gone and that little song Jugband Blues is very very sad, it was nice they wrote WYWH about him.

Andy is a great guitar player of course but prog is littered with them, Mario Millo is a favourite of mine from Sebastian Hardie, in fact a lot of Floyd fans may like this 70's Aussie band, have a listen, this is from their album 4 Moments (I think you can hear the wole album on you tube)

I think Time is perhaps the best track ever recorded by anyone. Flawless. Great guitar solo too.

Like a lot of their stuff, some's a bit crap but they reached heights few other bands can match.

It would be interesting to see how many people slagging off PF could actually play. After all, a chinless wonder from Oxford college would hardly be in a position to argue the rights and wrongs of a defensive midfielder. But people with no musical talent, who think someone like the dreadful Jonny Marr can play guitar, think they can rip David Gilmour a new one? You really have no idea.

Just wondering if any one has seen the cover band `Think Floyd"?, one of my best old buds from school .....

They are playing there? If so, from what I remember they were pretty good :-)

As I said on this video on the OP has several unknown session musicians, not Nick Mason on Drums and another keyboard player as well as Rick Wright, not Roger Waters on Bass and 2 other guitarists

Pink Floyd as a band could never play as good as these, Gilmour just playing his usual Blues scale (which he is good at), and they always needed 3 girly singers on the 'harder to sing' songs

Probably the most overrated band ever, at least other huge bands like Led Zep, Yes, Deep Purple could actually play theyre music without help.

I once heard Roger Waters say that they developed the stage theatrics like laser shows and blow up pigs and aeroplanes etc to disguise the fact that they were a pretty shit band who sang out of tune.

Still, the dope heads dug them

I dont hate them or anything, I thought DSOTM was a great album, its just I dont think theyre great musicians, if you saw them play on theyre own without all the support guys and huge stage show anybody with half a brain would realise this

Could have something to with the fact that the video isn't of Pink Floyd, it's David Gilmour on his solo tour playing in Gdansk. So you wouldn't expect PInk Floyds other members to be there seeing as it isn't them playing.

Roger Waters left Pink Floyd some time ago so you'd not see him playing with them anyway.

Rick Wright had another keyboard player on stage as they wanted to actually play the tracks live and not have pre-recorded/programmed keyboards.

'Need three girl singers on the harder to sing songs' - eh? I really don't get that, there are parts in songs specifically written for female singers, they are not shipped in to sing the 'harder to sing songs' at all.

And most importantly it's their not they're

Deary me. Regardless of personal taste, Johnny Marr is easily one of the best guitarists I've ever heard play. If not the best. I'm also a huge fan of Pink Floyd, by the way,

Used to have a great compilation called 'All Movement Is Acomplished' until some scrote nicked it from my flat years ago. Highlight watching them at Earls Court although everything after Waters left isn't Floyd to me.

a very fine band playing live.

I remember a memorable gig 40 odd years ago at the College of Commerce, Aytoun St back in the day. Parts of the performance was used (along with a gig in Birmingham at Mothers in Erdington) for the live album "Ummagumma". I saw them live just three times but on each occassion and they were superb.

Like Neil Young, their studio discography is heroically uneven. For every "Wish You Were here" there is an "Atom Heart Mother" that is almost unlistenable.

Their swansong "The Endless River" released in November 2014 is quite superb.

Totally agree with you, my favourite band. I managed to see them live twice 1977 and 1980, I would have loved to have seen them in 1969 or 70 before they became a super group. I wish they would release those concerts that were used for Umaguma in their entirity.

I can take or leave them.

DSOTM is superb
Wish You Were Here is good
What I've heard of The Wall is OK, as well as other stuff in their back catalogue that I've heard.

I know this may rankle with many, but they're not in the same league as the classic Genesis line up, in all departments, though PF sold HUGE amounts of albums, mainly down to the "notoriety" of the 3 albums I named, above.

Don't get me wrong, they're a top band, but I don't get the hero worship.

A Sergio with Wish You Were Here.

A couple of Silva's with DSOTM and The Wall.

The rest were a touch Jovetic.
