How have we got Donnarumma, Cherki and Semenyo, for less than Wirtz or Isak?

… was how United used to do it in the 60’s and 70’s.

I think we’re just a better prospect of:
Company HR Support
Training and stadium Facilities
Career progression
Current Manager and backroom staff
Management and strategic future plans
…which all leads to
Personal enrichment
Personal legacy
Personal stability
And players don't have to get home by tram after games.

We could put out a decent side for what Vard and Grealish cost.

We haven't signed Semenyo but if his release clause is paid and he chooses to come to City, no doubt we have paid top wack wages and given the agent £10m or so.

We were the only top level club who were going to sign Don and pay his wages.

For Cherki he could leave for less than half what City paid, so it was a good deal for Lyon too.

All the above are important but ultimately I think it comes down to the Pep factor. Players know he is a serial winner and they want to play for the best coach on the planet.

I also don't think people understand finances. The infrastructure at City that has been put in place means that whoever is signed gets a free agent for promoting their own sponsorship deals, which means the club is investing in them in the long term to give more incentive that nobody else can provide.

Just need to add that this is a symbiotic relationship and it relies on the scouts, the investment, the fans, the directors, and the coaches and captains on the pitch.
In other words we are cheats and should be relegated and have all our trophies retrospectively given to the poor dippers, rags and tarquins…:)

Brown envelopes - I saw someone on RAWK who has insider knowledge.
He is now saying something about Semenyo's wages being much more than Liverpool will offer AND that we will pay fewer instalments. He knows about contracts AND EVERYTHING.
It's amazing the information and facts that come out of Walton prison.

Simple really – we are just a ridiculously well run club from top to bottom.

While Liverpool were smashing British transfer records left and right, dropping £116m on Wirtz and £125m plus on Isak, we quietly went about our business and brought in elite players for little prices.

Donnarumma came in for about £26m because his contract at PSG was running down and there'd been a fallout with the manager – so they had to cash in. I think we got lucky with Donnarumma, more of a right place right time.

Lyon were absolutely drowning in debt and desperate for sales and on top of that, despite all the hype around Cherki, no other big club was willing to take the chance and meet Lyon's asking price earlier, so his deal stayed on the table until City swooped in at a bargain with only a year left on his contract. We took the chance, others didn't.

Semenyo (if he signs) will be £65m thanks to a release clause that Bournemouth couldn't really inflate.
That's world-class recruitment.

Been very impressed with Hugo Viana and his ability to spot the opportunities where clubs are under pressure, contracts are expiring, or there's a fixed clause, and we strike without getting dragged into bidding wars or paying silly money for hype. Hopefully it continues this way in the summer to bring in more quality players in areas that need depth.
