Always thought about that 0-0 draw in between. .I have no memory of being there ..so it goes down as a 'no' I'm afraid,lol..the 2-2 will always live with me as my first ever FA cup game in the days when the cup really really meant something to every fan..what a day First Yorkshire pie (delicious ) and pint..and the last min goal ...the 2nd replay(0-3) I 'll never forget due to being drenched at j.26 M1 waiting to be picked up ..and being further drenched out on the open terrace behind the goal in the away end-it didn't matter tho..I had fa cup fever,we won 3-0 and not even the 5 mile walk home from the motorway junction aftrewards ,freezing cold in the rain, could dampen my enthusiasm. .it didn't matter cos I was convinced that"We re the famous Mancity and we're off to Wemberlee! "...top top blue me ,lolWere you not at the second reply at Maine Road (0-0 and they missed a sitter at the death)
I was, plus all the above, so I'm "massive"
68000 lurking rags or dippers cos we don't have any fans don't you knowHow many of them are lurking Rags?
And celeb posters with dual usernames, so they can reply to their own posts will account for another 90068000 lurking rags or dippers cos we don't have any fans don't you know
I was at the 10-1, the 2-2 and the 6-1
+1 too. (With my now dearly departed, sadly missed, Dad).
Same here. My dad had refused to go over to the ‘darkside’ - his dad/my grandfather supported the Rags - and for that I’ll be eternally grateful. Great times together at Maine Road.
On a different note Huddersfield were, it seems, trying last Sunday to outdo the horrendous strip they wore back then.
P.S. Anyone there on that frosty New Year’s Day in 1966 when we beat them 2-0 at Maine Road? I think they were 2nd to us in the League at the time. A very tense game and a big result for us.
