How many players from our 2014 home meeting with Bayern would make our current XI?

You'd think the obvious answers would be Aguero and Kompany. You'd stick them in and fit the team around them. For Pep, it'd be nothing new.

But I reckon if we were thinking about the XI that played on Tuesday (in the same formation), it'd be a bit more complicated.

I just don't think Aguero gets in ahead of Haaland. Kompany instead of Akanji is a bit easier, but I wonder how it would go if it was Kompany vs Dias for the spot in this system.

Aguero and Vinny would still stroll into our starting 11. Pep would have to figure out how to play both Sergio and Haaland. What a nice problem to have that would be!

Clichy and Hart on the bench.

The rest of them wouldn't get near the squad.
This 100%

Sergio Aguero had the best PL minutes to goal ratio of a goal every 108 minutes. And when you consider Haaland is currently on about 62 minutes per PL goal it puts into perspective just how lethal a finisher young Erling is.

Aguero was more experienced and became a better team player than Haaland currently is but given time I think he'll integrate better into the team improve his goal tally every season he's here, barring injury of course.

If Aguero and Haaland were similar ages I don’t think there’s any way they’d ever end up at the same club together. So the “he’d have to find a way to fit them both in” argument would never materialise.

But if it somehow did, I don’t see any way Guardiola is playing both of them. On the rare occasion Alverez plays with Haaland he’s asked to do a job I don’t think he’d ask Aguero to do.

It’s got to be one or the other for me. And it can only really be Haaland, as treacherous as that sounds.

And yeah, Kompany for Aki, Stones or Akanji, depending exactly how he wants to play it back there.

Kompany ahead of Akanji, obviously.

Aguero that season was in the form of his life - he has to play. I'm certain he could fit into the side in almost the same way Alvarez does.

Ederson
Kompany Dias Ake
Stones Rodri
Bernardo De Bruyne Grealish
Haaland Aguero

It's a bit more attack minded so you'd probably want Bernardo and Grealish to be a bit conservative. But Gundo and Kev are playing incredibly high up the pitch right now anyway.
