I watched the '69 FA Cup win over Leicester recently, it was just so weird, like I'd been on the mushrooms.

I wonder how City of today would fare on the pitches of the seventies.

A short quick passing game would look dodgy in inch thick mud!

We used to dream of inch thick mud. It would have been like a bowling green to the usual pitches.
Any one remember the cup match v Arsenal in the 70/71 season? Now that WAS a mud bath.

Or Derby where they had to remark the penalty spot before Derby could take a penalty?

With Joe Corrigan being booked for pacing it out. When they measured it with a tape, the spot was just where Joe had paced it to.

    Team supported:
FC Zurich (and city of course)
Always think it's weird how chairmen used to be treated as minor celebs and interviewed as if they had a scooby about football. There is still plenty of footage of swales making a tit of himself (and the club) on youtube.

Watched Big Match recently with my youngest lad. Late 70's match. He couldn't believe the goalies played in shorts and without gloves

    Indeed.

Rochdale scored a goal last week that would be played still today if it was scored in the 1960s. But it’ll be forgotten about in a few months. Blackburn scored one a few years ago that was better than the 1970 Brazil goal but I bet most people don’t even know about it.

Tell you who was a player when you watch his old videos though: Jimmy Greaves. He was putting the ball in the bottom corner just inside the post from everywhere.
