Can't seem to find the bit where to attach photos other than via a url.

You can't ,,,,, they have to be added from an external source such as Flikr or from youtube etc

try typing image hosting into google there are several free ones. you basically upload your photo and then you can link to it. Only issue is I have no idea who owns the photo afterwards I suspect you hand your rights over so don't upload anything sensitive to you
