When I am in Europe, these things just 'work'. Like clockwork. Our trains are unreliable, slow and generally crap. Why can't we just have something that just... works?

It's also considerably cheaper too... We're paying premium prices for a shambolic service.

I'm on a trip to Finland in January. I'm traveling by train in a sleeper cabin from Helsinki to Kemijarvi. The 14hr journey costs just 70 euros.

The Tory line since the announcement is that they were adequately compensated via the compulsory purchase scheme.

All governments waste trillions of pounds mate, doesn’t matter what colour flag they fly, they are all as bad as one another .. Nothing more certain than death & taxes..
That's how shit goes down with capitalism, it’s always been this way and it always will be this way, regardless of who is in power …
Ps… What has compensation got to do with folk being forced to sell those homes they’ve lived in for generations in some cases, for them it’s not about money..
