Ben Elton`s programme on Channel Four recently called Britain`s great railway disaster was an interesting watch .

The other issue that seems to have been forgotten is that the railways were “sold off” ! - the majority of it including the land and rolling stock was given away or sold for nominal fees - the usual Tory pigs were there to feed at the trough.
