I don't understand the clamour for 352. I really don't. Means 3 centre halves which is pointless in 90% of games. It means our wide attackers are fullbacks and no real space for Sane & Sterling or Mahrez in their best positions. It also closes the pitch centrally limiting for or the two advanced 8's.

I appreciate other may see it differently, or may deploy Sane & Sterling as the wingers as opposed to wing backs.
I can't think of a single good result Liverpool aside. Last season we struggled with Brighton, Bournemouth & Everton. It was only after the switch to 433 we started taking the piss.

Sunday for me.

Ederson
Walker
Otamendi
Laporte
Mendy

Gundogan
Silva (B)
De Bruyne

Sane
Aguero
Sterling.

Bravo.
Stones
Kompany
Fernandinho
Mahrez
Jesus
Foden/Silva
I agree the 3-5-2 formation is a waste of a player against most teams besides Liverpool. I’d like to see us stick with 4-3-3 for most of the season.

I genuinely can't wait to see again one of the greatest teams this country has ever witnessed.

It doesn't matter who plays, what the formation is, City and Pep play to win and paint pictures with the entrails of our opponents.

Huddersfield are simply in the way.

Agree wholeheartedly. Absolutely love watching us.

I think everyone needs to shift to the left a little bit. Especially Ederson.

Why would you drop Sterling after the Arsenal game?

It's useful as a change-up, allowing us to get two strikers upfront. Worked a treat in the Spurs game at Wembley. But I agree, shouldn't be our standard.

It will be interesting to see how the opposition try and stop the overlapping fullbacks / cutting in wingers.

BENCH: BRAVO, OTAMENDI, KOMPANY, FODEN, SILVA, SANE, G.JESUS

Could see something like this to combat the 5-4-1 Pep has talked about
  • 2 DMs in Gundogan and Fernandinho to get free of the opposition ST sitting on the sole DM and to pull the 2 oppo CMs out
  • That together with Laporte and Walker as wide CBs, with the job of drawing out the RM/LM, should free up some space for Bernardo and Mahrez to attack the RCB/LCB and create a 5v5 in the box/final 3rd
With Mendy starting, it could change at will to the same shape as against Arsenal

Hope we thump them, just to see the realisation on the faces of fans of other teams when they see how good we are, even without De Bruyne.

Totally agree with this. Huddersfield are going to struggle especially with Mendy back in the team. I know we were great last season without him, but he just adds to whole different problem for the opposition with his style. Was really pleased to see Foden play and if we can secure the game early on then hopefully Foden & Diaz can come on for a spell and show their ability as well again.

Looking forward to the weekend lets get the 3 points in the bag.
