Foden.

Foden had to be on the bench in the final months last season. Now he starts on the right, and then Bernardo moves to midfield, or in midfield.

Plus, the point was about the size of the squad, not about the quality of the replacements.
The point was about midfield options which I commented on thanks.
specifically, no option we have just now comes close to the level of control and goal scoring capability that Gundo gave us.

How many options we have in midfield and who can or cannot replace Gundo are two different questions. With KDB back in the squad, plus Foden and Lewis, now we have more options in midfield than last season. Which was the whole point.

We were without both Gundo and KDB for the entire first half of the season and are just 2 pts worse off than after 19 games last season. Plus, unlike last season, Haaland missed a whole month in the league, and Stones missed nearly 4 months...(We had problems in midfield last season, too, before Pep put Stones next to Rodri.) Gundo's and KDB's replacements must have been decent, especially Foden, who was brilliant in midfield vs Everton and SU. Foden isn't like Gundo, but may become an even better player than Gundo.

I’m adding nothing to what I said. Let’s see if you make the same case at the end of the season. If we win another treble, I will be the first to congratulate your foresight. The serious stuff hasn’t started yet.

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying. Having more options is about quantity, not about quality. I'm not saying our midfield now is better than our midfield with Gundogan or equal to it just because we have more options this season. The point I made was in the context of the claim that our squad is too small to take the FA Cup seriously.

Gundo was one of my favorite players, but we can be great without him. I'm sure we are going to witness some exceptional performances. Whether we are going to win titles is something only time can tell. Depends also on fitness and luck.

My point is you can’t have more options than before when you have nobody that can do what Gundo did. We are weaker in midfield and having more options is about quality. Fwiw, I agree with you that our squad is big enough to challenge. I have seen nothing yet that makes me believe Kova or Nunes have improved or replaced what we have lost. I’m pleased that Phil is playing well. Kev will add what Kev adds. Let’s see how this new midfield gels when the serious stuff starts.

Surely we can take Huddersfield game seriously? One game at a time. January's cramped fixtures are a nightmare this year.

Should be good tomorrow- hopefully a few goals. Young fan base. Lots at their first game. Kev back and a nice early kick off. Swim in the morning and head to the match.

I’m going just to see Kev come on the pitch and to play. The rest is of no concern to me.
