Didn't realise that TV money for CL isn't evenly distributed amongst English clubs who participate in CL. Whoever is prem champions gets 40% of English TV revenue, 2nd place 30% 3rd place 20% and 4th place 10% this isn't based on performance in CL neither.

Talk about money to keep the status quo. CMON CITY YOU HAVE TO FUCKING WIN.

Is this true? If so thank you Chelsea! And good luck on the 19th! As thanks to your efforts we will be getting a nice ffpr bonus of at least 30% (not counting our chickens until Sunday!).

I always thought the Prem TV money was split evenly across all 20 clubs compared to La Liga which Barca and Real dominate.

I think he's talking about Champion's League income? If not I'm confused!

Yes he is. You get money for advancing in CL, then there is seperate tv pool. I always thought it was based on tv ratings. But now I know. I found this link to a some London based club blog.

<a class="postlink" href="http://wengerball.com/archives/how-champions-league-money-is-distributed" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://wengerball.com/archives/how-cham ... istributed</a>

So we would end up with more money than UTD if we win Sunday but not sure how if Chelsea finishes 6th effects this and if they win or lose CL Final.

according to red cafe ,united will be about £20Million short if they finish with no trophy this season !!!
makes them less able to service the debt, and obviously limits their ability in the transfer market !!! COME ON YOU BLUES!

And, as unpopular as new plastic fans are, winning the league would certainly see a new set of fans buying new shirts and other memorabilia joining the ranks.

I attended the first pre-season exhibition match in San Francisco last year, which was poorly promoted and poorly attended, due to our limited international following. I imagine that the exact same location would draw considerably more given the publicity and awareness this year has brought for the club.

That's just ridiculous.

If anything it should be the other way round.

Why on earth would yo want to incentivise clubs to finish 4th rather than 2nd or 3rd (and maybe even 1st)?

Ridiculous

Okay, admittedly, it wasn't a particularly well thought-out post.

I wasn't thinking of just handing out the money in reverse order though, I was thinking more like the American Football system where the lowest ranked team get the best college players the next season. The lower ranked teams need to somehow be given the ability to catch up in order to maintain a competitive league. Maybe they should be given transfer credits instead that they can spend on young players?

I don't know what would make it work, all I do know is that giving the winners more money strikes me as being unhealthy for competition.

Welcome to the new FFP rules......... the rich and successful get richer and more successful which means they get even richer and even more successful

Which was of course the sole reason for the formation of the premier league and the change from the European cup to the enlarged champions league

Platinis plan finally makes sense

change all the rules just in time to benifit Manchester City and their fantasric owner

more fool me for not seeing his motives earlier!

Thats the huge irony of the whole FFP plan is that it will be great for City and unfair on pretty much everyone else!

Which is yet another reason why the rest of the world ignores American Football.
A system akin to communism, ironically in the land of the free that ensures mediocrity all round. The relegation system creates excitement and interest in the game and to the victor the spoils is the reason why we are all entranced and biting our nails every year. If your team is shit, all you'd have to do is await the entrance of Yaya, Aguero and Joe Hart and all is rosy again.
Not for me.

That's what we virtually did, didn't we?
