I have just read his assesment of our game today and i have to admire the mans honesty,i know theres lots on here who want him gone but i dont.If we can give this fella time he'd sort it out without a doubt, although i suspect he might not get the time.

he is exactly right....5-6 players not upto standards (and not just in todays game...but on a regualr basis...vass hamman, cacedio ball, jo dunne and richards)........all baring richards should be sold/got rid of....

out of the first team squad the ones n bold can either be kept or deserve a chance.....the rest are simply not good enough:

Joe Hart Richard Martin 16 Kasper Schmeichel

2 Micah Richards 3 Michael Ball 4 Nedum Onuoha 5 Pablo Zabaleta 15 Javier Garrido 18 Danny Mills 22 Richard Dunne 25 Wayne Bridge 26 Ryan McGivern 26 Tal Ben Haim 30 Shaleum Logan 33 Vincent Kompany 36 Berti Glauber:

6 Michael Johnson 7 Stephen Ireland 11 Elano 19 Gelson Fernandes 21 Dietmar Hamann 31 Adam Clayton

8 Shaun Wright-Phillips 17 Martin Petrov 29 Kelvin Etuhu

9 Valeri Bojinov 10 Robinho 12 Darius Vassell 14 Jo 20 Felipe Caicedo 24 Ched Evans 27 Benjani 28 Daniel Sturridge

thats a squad of 17 players in my opinion who are good enough or deserve a chance....and a number of them are kids!!

therefore it is easy to see that when we get a few injuries....like today.....boj, petrov, jonno, ned, swp, ireland and robinho all out....we start to really struggle.....we then have to turn to the dross like vassell and gelson who just are not good enough!

its time to look at the facts that some of our players need to be shipped out and replaced very very quickly

MH needs at least 5-6 more players minimum before we will se any improvement

Did he mention anything about Gelson being out left or bringing on Hamman to try and get goals to rescue the game for us?

Nothing wrong with Hughes' assessment of the game post match but he continues to excuse himself on the basis of the squad's weaknesses but has not made the best of what he has in my view and that raises a big question mark for me, which will only be answered by giving him more time.

As to your assessment of the squad: too quick to write of some of the young players, which is very typical of lots of City fans.

Think your wrong about Caicedo , hesa been given absolutley NO chance until 4 games ago, and being a young lad and new to the prem i think he has done a fantastic job.

Also i would rather keep Dunne than richards, the rest is pretty much spot on. Like I said in another post, time to terminate some contracts, if it mean playing some reserves who give 110%, so be it. Mills (gone away), glauber (out of contract at end of season), Hamann(too old), Vassell(not good enough) should all be piad off and shown the door, and we start again properly.

Ben haim, fernandes, Benjani, Jo , just need to be sold at any price.

He seemed to say the right things in the press conference, which i think was a dig at our players they had more fight and we need players that can handle the physical side(i think that has Parker and Bellamy written all over it) which is fair enough but bringing Hamman on when losing, Fernades on left wing, his lips talk sence but his actions scream lunatic!!. Its just very frustrating when the team has ability but either they dont want to play(get rid of them) or he cant get them to play(get rid of him)

If '5 or 6' players don't perform on the day, that is down to the preparation and the motivation provided by manager and coaches.

Or it means they are simple not good enough for life in the prem , fa cup, uefa cup, or simply to play football out our club.

he was sayin some dnt have the desire basically, in other words theyre fucked cos kno they are gonna be replaced, not hughes fault just passengers collectin their wages like vassel, ball, dunne,jo, elano- no more no less than that shudnt be overanalysed

at the end of the day hughes is a "manager" he manages this squad so its down to him to tell the egos what to do and when to do it. sorry but the guy hasnt got a clue .Robinho chooses to play when he wants to,we had a player today who had to take his ear ring out for five minutes before he came on and the rest are happy at the cash machines while taking the piss out of us!

who in you opinion out of the younger players will make it.....i know i didnt highlight some of them as i dont know them but obviously at the moment they are not upto standard as they would be at least making the subs bench

Ive seen enough of evans to know he wont make it
etuhu.....???????????????
Jo.......just has not got it.....keep him by all means to see if he can develop but at the moment there is no chance
caceido........very very doubtful he has the speed of thought to play at this level...needs far too much time on the ball but again like Jo could be kept to see if he can develop.

my origional point probably wasnt very well clear and not well thuoght out as there are some of those i didnt highlight who could possibly develop into decent players but at present for the ones who are good enough right at this present moment in time i think its pretty accurate....which was the main point in that i think MH has a very limited squad to choose from due to lack of quality in depth and injuries to kep players

not entirely.

you cannt coach players not to make ridiculous mistakes like dunne has been making all season and like zabaleta and hamman made today.

it is equally the responsibility of the players in my opinion

young lads? Ireland, Johnson, kid played left back b4, Hart i dnt think so already thinks he has arrived,Micah gotta stop believin his own hype, same for sturridge

I certainly think Jo and Caicedo have potential but will need time to develop in this country. They would also be helped if City were generally playing better. I think you need the best part of 30 players in your squad and that means having several younger players who you give a decent amount of time to develop before decided to keep or sell on. So even with a number of additions, I think there's room for the likes of Jo although City do have far too many forwards so if more are purchased, some will have to make way but I'd consider loaning out one or two first.

Agreeing with the OP, I think Mark Hughes definitely has the ability to turn things around at our club. I don't doubt for one second his credentials for the job as he did infact do a fairly good job at Blackburn Rovers, (re: cup runs and european qualifications) given the circumstances and finance their.

MH has been left with alot of tripe from the old regime of Sven and Thaksin. Clearly Elano seems to be playing as if he wants to get the manager the boot and which I find utterly disgraceful!! How this person can earn so much money, pull on our beloved shirt and give a perfromance as he does every week. I don't think Gelson Fernandes offers any quality to our team at all either. Poor Richard Dunne, I do feel sorry for the lad but his best just isn't good enough anymore and his influence as captain evidently is not motivating the players enough at this stage.

Fair enough MH did bring in a few players under Thaksin, Zabaleta and SWP seemed to be worthwhile signings, whereas Ben Haim hasn't paid off. As for Robinho, when he was brought in by ADUG, he does bring that world class factor to our side and we do suffer when he is out injured.

However, having said all that, I think this January window will be the turning point as MH can get the players the team really needs and hopefully turn this season around. What he said after the game today was bang on! Blame the players not Hughesy.

We have scored more goals than virtually anyone else in the premier league. It is the midfield and defence that is letting us down.I just cannot believe that a pro like Dunne who gave us his all for the past number of years has gone to pot.yet he does seem a little heavier, a bit laboured. When you have a new baby in the family you can be knackered all the time and he is not getting any younger either. Nevertheless if he were shielded by better left and right backs etc he would be better.John Terry is good because Ashley Cole et. al. are good and are a unit. So at least Hughes has seen that he needs a left back at least . But has he the vision to see that we need a right back etc etc.?I do not believe he has the capability.I have been like a Schizo these last few weeks supporting him one week then demanding his head the next! But I cant go on and Im sure a few Arabs cant go on feeling like this either. Mark if you are reading this ,you are on thin ice man, very thin ice.To come out and state this evening that it could take 2 or 3 or more transfer windows does not induce a lot of confidence really. I mean young Sturridge and others listening to that wont know what to do next will they? Also you are the leader.Sven got a lot out of these so called donkeys and so can you!So if you cant get it from them then fall on your sword like Roy Keane. Please!!
