On the outside looking in.
Please put aside your feelings and opinions about Hughes before his departure and then answer this question. Can you honestly disagree with the fact that the handling of the situation and the way its was excuted was nothing short of Shoddy, Disgraceful. and downright unprofessional?

Yes.

Personally, I don't have any feelings for Mark Hughes. He's not my friend, I don't actually know him.
However, I do have strong feelings for Man City as a club, and the owners acted in the best interests of it, and not Hughes. You are reading this media bullshit and taking opinion from it. This is the same media that has been slating us all year and telling us to sack our manager.

What we have essentially done, is sack a manager the night before the game and ask him to take over as a notice period. Hughes would have known that saying no would have been breach of contract and worth £4m to him.

Cook has identified that he doesn't feel Hughes is the man for the job, and got another manager in as soon as, who he felt fits the bill.

Don't forget that this period of time is the only 7 day break we get between December and about March. Mancini can come in and have a whole week of getting to know the players before the next game. It is essential that he is given this lead in period, which is why the situation rolled out as it did.

We don't really know whats happened. Not too many good ways to sack a manager, but I can't see this as being any worse than your typical sacking.

I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that none of this was public until yesterday, but it's pretty obvious it has been a while coming. It all depends on when and how Hughes was told about it.

I only disagree with it happening on a matchday, other than that, the right choice has been made imo.

It wasn't played out very well IMO, but im also of the opinion that it was meant to fold out how it did, something triggered yesterday's antic's, not sure what but I cant believe yesterday was planned like that. If we'd sacked Hughes and had no replacement there would be more annarchy long term, least this way the owners have got themselves organised and it's not a case of having a temp in whilst the owners and Cook go in search of a new manager. So although yesterday was very un-professional, in a way things have been done very professionally.

Not the best of ways to do it but as someone else said, there isn't really a nice way of sacking someone.
If the new manager coming in was a name that made eveyone sit up and take notice then i think this reaction to the way Hughes was sacked would be minimized, as it is it's all a bit meh.

It's a delicate business at the best of times.

In the bad old days, of course, we'd have sacked him and then started looking for a replacement. Probably have placed an ad in The Telegraph jobs section...

All in all, it was done very quickly. And I rather liked the idea of the Manager getting one last game. Chance to wave good-bye etc.

Wierd atmosphere though.

As a footnote, I got laid off last Boxing Day (of all days). But I still had to work a month's notice period (on minimum wage). I got through that. And so will Hughes.

I think with the world we live in now ie internet, blanket media coverage etc I dont think its possible to sack someone in secret, How stupid would our owners look if we had no one in place to take over from hughes?
Give it a few weeks & a few wins (hopefully) & the media will have moved on to the next "disgrace" "Scandal" etc (probably benitez getting the sack)
I know nothing about Mancini & he may well only last 12 months if we dont improve as a side but our owners are used to being winners & they will keep trying until we get there which as far as I can see can only be good news for us supporters?
Lets face it Owners, Chairmen, Managers & Players will come & go but we will always stay with this unique football club so sit back & enjoy the ride.

spot on - don't understand why there's such doubt in Mancini on top of this
