Whilst I think his buys have been good, there is an argument that they have made us worse! We are still shocking away from home, and we never ever outplay teams like we did earlier on, pompey, stoke etc. Our goal thread has dried up completely since he implemented 'his team.'

For me, the deployment of 2 defensive midfielders has resulted in a lack of attacking threat. Also the lack of a real target man makes 2 defensive midfielders even more negative...
But I do agree, it does seem to have got worse, even Ireland is a pale immitation of his earleir form....Baffling

We played Kopany and Hamman away in DM and we won 3-0 so it can work.

Our full backs ave to play well for that to work, Ball and Corluka played very well that day.

We look a bit stale and stagnant at the minute. We need to try something completely new tactic wise, teams know how to deal with our attacking threat. And the players seem out of ideas as to what to do. I think if / when Petrov makes his return and we employ a proper winger system we'll start to improve but we're lacking that spark of something different at the minute.

hope on thursday we can get the likes of Bellamy and Ireland being played in behind the defence this never seems to happen and with no target man or wide players must be the best way to attack

I'm still a hughes fan, we could have gone 7th on Saturday and up until the 1st goal we were on top even though we hadn't troubled there goal, pompey took there chances, I am worried that we cant break teams down. Pompey are fighting for there lives and had a boost from losing there manager, always seems to happen against us!

You bring 4 new players into the team and it will take time for them all to adapt

That's what I am hoping anyway

Was a blow to miss out on Santa Cruz, but Bojinov sounds like he's about a month away.

The defensive midfielders i.e. Zabeleta and De Jong are not really working as we don't seem to be able to retain possession in the opponents half away from home

2 defensive midfielders is just unnecessary unless at least 1 of them can also move forward and add an attacking threat. Neither have shown they can do this.

The Brazil model that Scolari carried on with to win the 2002 world cup had 2 DM.

All we need is Cafu and Carlos to turn the clock back ten years and join us...

This system with 2 DM's can work if your fullbacks can get forward and provide the width, the players have not got used to the system yet it takes time for the new players to gel with the ones already here, we just need to be patient, i will be backing the team all the way then lets see where we are at the end of the season.

Aye but brazilians and the word defensive arent easy bedfellows.

Thats the really odd thing on paper this team is much stronger than last seasons and yet looks like it will end up double figures less in points.

Doubt it...maybe I'm optimistic but I think we'll get only about 5-8 points less than last season. That's still not good enough with this backing though.
