Goal machine but not sure he's optimal for our style of football. Can't argue a free transfer for one of Europe's top goal scorers if it happens though, certainly a cheaper alternative to Falcao at a grand cost of £0. 48 goals last season.

Klaas apart: Man City poised to make move for Dutch master Huntelaar
17 Nov 2012 23:00

The Schalke striker is free to talk from New Year's Day and Manchester City are among those interested in the 29-year-old's services

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is making a move for Dutch attacker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, writes the Sunday People.

The experienced striker is set to quit German giants Schalke at the end of the season – and possibly in the January window – with his contract running out and his camp looking for a new challenge.

As an out-and-out striker Huntelaar is the type of player City have lacked, and he showed his threat against top domestic defenders in the Champions League clashes with Arsenal.

Huntelaar is free to negotiate from January 1 and City could agree a pre-contract quickly, then either wait for the summer to take him for nothing or offer a low fee to bring him in sooner.

I'd pick him to Mario without a shadow of a doubt, and possibly even over dear Edin. If we could land him for free it'd be a miracle.
Always rated him, an even though he might not be the quickest of players, he is a very efficient and lethal finisher, tending to find himself in the right place at the right time.

Would be an unbelievable signing on a free, although I'm not sure whether it's worth losing out on Falcao or Neymar for this fella.

I don't think thats even a scenario, although Cavani may be.

Besides,it should be Suarez.

I think you can forget about any of those two players as both seem to have their future sorted out; Falcao to Chelsea and Neymar to Barcelona.
I reckon though we could just get Falcao here, but it would probably take astronomical wages... as in a lot more than what Carlos is on.

He is no better that what we already have and if we signed him he would be our oldest striker so getting rid of Dzeko who is better than Huntelaar anyways or Mario who has his best years ahead of him does not make sense. I am all for getting rid of a striker if an upgade becomes available but Huntelaar or even Cavani for that matter is not an upgrade on what we already have.

Surley you would much rather have Huntelaar and 20/30 million quid than Mario, wouldn't you?

Would have preferred we signed his team mate Farfan when he was available on a free in the summer. He reminds of Valencia but with more skill.

I know he is unbelievable striker, but I would rather give Guidette the chance and time to prove himself.

Would be fantastic. It's better to have somebody you can trust than somebody like Mario. And Guidetti can play a LW. If he'd be 100% maybe we wouldn't sign Sinclair.

Not really mate, Mario has the potential to be one of the best and the system we play doesn't bring out the best in Dzeko so Huntelaar will have no chance succeeding here. If we sell Mario then it would only be worth signing a striker who is an improvement on what we already have and that only leaves a select few, Suarez, Neymar and Falcao are the only ones who are maybe available.

What? Huntelaar is a completely different player to Dzeko, Huntelaar has intelligent movement with a great touch and unbelievable finishing, whilst Dzeko is a target man who relies on his strength and heading ability.
