he was paid as he was off "sick" and would probs have sued the arse off the BBC if they'd have binned him.

Is there a breakdown on how the top earners wages are funded?
People used to kick off about how much Clarkson earned at the BBC but the whole Top Gear operation was run by BBC Studios and made the BBC a massive profit, didn’t cost license fee payers a penny.
Lineker / MOTD might be similar? I’ve no idea, just wondering.
The BBC has lots of self funded commercial activities outside of the license fee funded stuff.
