Agree 100% cheesy mate.

For me though its not just the players, its the whole fucking bent FA!

No interest in an organisation that runs the national team and is more interested in selling shirts and protecting their so called star players at all costs instead of giving the country what it deserves....

A winning side, picked on merit.

Well i for one really care what happens to the national side and woke up this morning feeling every bit as bad as i do when city have a bad result.
Ok i cant relate to these over payed, over hyped primadonnas but they are playing for england and once they pull the england shirt on they have my total support.
Just because they are playing shit at the moment does not mean i will give up on them as i never will when city play badly which in fairness has been a lot over the years.
Being a city and england fan you have to be the ultimate optimist not just turn your back on them,so i for one will be roaring the boys on on wednesday and i am sure we will do it.
COME ON ENGLAND.

Honestly, I'm happy that you feel that way. in previous World Cups I was there down the pub with my flag draped around my shoulders cheering on the lads. The difference was that back then I liked the players. Of course they still lived on a different planet to the rest of us, but I didn't mind that as they carried themselves well most of the time, they weren't arrogant & they genuinely seemed to care about the country.

"It almost hurts me to feel this way. I love my country & am extremely proud to have served in its Armed Forces for over 20 years (albeit we are UK Forces, of course). Yet, because of these twats who represent us (how awful is that?), I have no affinity towards the national football team at all."

snap, mate im the same as you with that service in the british army,an i love my country too,i followed them all over germany 06,frankfurt,dortmund,nurnberg,cologne,stuttgart,gelsen etc,and i came home totally disillusioned with the lot of them, its the same this time,no effort,no passion,no basic ball skills, cant pass, cant hold the ball, too scared to play the game for fear of being "slagged off",....the list goes on an on.......

the problem could be the money these guys are making, oh well no score agaist the algerians??? on the bus ,back to the 5 star hotel, where food is laid on,masuesses on call, have a sauna, have a laugh at us poor mugs that have travelled and paid thru the nose to get out there...
i dont look upto any of them, they are not role models, they are overpaid, pampered, closseted, horrible individuals who dont give a damn about the shirt......honest you couldve run up onto the terrace last night an pulled eleven lads out an they wouldve played algeria better.........

fooking lose against slovenia, then fly home here....cos i for one will be waiting at luton airport with my box of fookin eggs...........WANKERS!!!!!!!!!!

Cheesy's post perfectly encapsulates my feelings: I am finding it difficult to arouse any feelings of national pride when I watch that dross. And as a proud Englishman admitting that hurts like mad.

The odd thing is, this total indifference only seems to affect me when it comes to the national football team. If it were rugby, cricket or any other team sport I'd be screaming for England from the rafters - as patriotic as the next man. But I just cannot summon up even an ounce of enthusiasm for the England football team.

Cheesy your begining to sound like the scousers did in the 80s or nitid fans now,so you used to get behind them, but now you dont, how strange,so when we were shite, did you not get behind us then.

Sorry, but what are you on about?

concerning how you USED to get behind england.

My feelings have nothing to do with whether we're any good or not.

I also dont want to end up like the scum supporting cnut that lives up the road from me who is flying his shit flag instead of the george cross and has been mouthing off about his beloved wayne not getting injured, and how he hopes we get knocked out early so the messiah comes home early to be ready for the new season.

As I said before, yes. When I felt an affinity with the players we had playing for us. When they weren't arrogance personified. When they weren't so far up their own arses. And, above all, when those players seemed to be doing it for us.

Surely club loyalty and loyalty to the national team are very different. They are in my case anyhow. I have a huge emotional bond with City that no amount of shite performances will break, that bond was never as strong with the England football team.

mate hes not saying hes not behind them, hes saying that we love our country and he wants, like all of us, to see some players respect the shirt, the job,an us fans,by at least putting in a shift when they play....
these guys ie terry, gerrard rooney, lampardashley cole, et all are not decent people who deserve to represent us...and then when they hear the fans booing, which they have every right to do after a performance like that....rooney decides we are all fooking peasants for paying his wages????????

I USED to love my ex wife as well fella....USED to be the operative word.

Thus bunch of over hyped, over paid clowns and their bosses at the FA dont deserve fuck all imo.

Show some fucking pride in the shirt, make wearing it mean something once again and some of us might change our minds.

Whats the problem with that sentiment or should we do what the FA know we will do, spend countless thousands on shirts, travel etc, blindly following the 'BRAND'?

Fuck that, sorry.

Left England getting on 30 years ago and until the day I die I'll always follow the England football team stayed up until approaching 4.30am watching that shite and for the 1st time I thought fuck please don't buy Gerrard or any other English players, it's like once they make it, they get SWP disease when he went to chelski, no bottle and I am

I agree about rooney he was fu..in bang out of order last night making them comments and needs to apologise to the thousands who have paid absolute fortunes to get to south africa, and have every right to boo such an abject display especially his personal performance.

I do. Want England to go further. So far it has been dire but then its always been dire. Italia 90 was dire to start with. Euro 96 was poor to start with. Its never not been dire. Now Algeria was a new level of direness previously unplumbed but I am still hanging in there and will urge them on against Slovenia.

Sorry Cheesy :)

thing is, its so typical of the england players
its not their fault they were shit and put nothing into the game, it was the fans' fault for booing them

If the manager changes his tactics and stops playing Emile Heskey then we can still go far. Who plays 4-4-2 these days, and who thinks Heskey is an international footballer? We need to revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Cole on the left, SWP on the right, and Steven Gerrard playing in behind Rooney.
