I had Adie Mike in my sticker book

I remember those old Panini books and what a rip off they were. I’d go to school with a pocket full of ‘swaps’ and spend break time trying to get all the City ones. In the end I only needed Ron Futcher but he was one of the very rare ones, my mate who was a blue had it as a swap but refused to let me have it because he didn’t want me to get all the City ones. He was a right spoiled twat in hindsight.

He’s a rag now and works for a newspaper - says a lot really….

What a spoilt bastard!

First one I bought was an 86 World Cup one, only City related stickers I got was the Peter Reid/Beardsley ones….was at primary school & cash for stickers was hard to come by, especially when you could have a 10p mix instead or a quarter of boiled sweets. A lad a couple of years older had stolen a full box from the local newsagents, word spread like wildfire & some teachers set about looking for him. Rather than give up his loot he climbed onto the school roof, a crowd of over a 100 kids gathered, he then launched them into the air like Willy wonka golden tickets, a proper working class hero

My cousin played for Luton in the late 80s and when I met my wife her brother had a couple of pannini stickers of him on his door which had been on there for about 15 years.

I think my first proper pannini sticker book I can remember was Spain 82 and I also remember Felix Maggath scaring the shit out of me as I thought he looked like the American werewolf in London.
