I hate being told to sit down, when we are attacking....

do you not think football would be a little odd if everyone just sat down fot the whole game. what about after a goal has been scored, what about after wnning a title for the first time in a lifetime, what about when the ref makes a bad call.

this subject really boggles my mind, this is why we we watch football its a physical group experience, and the unity of being part of a huge group is a unique overwhelming, sometimes magical, sometimes frustrating experience. the experience is diluted enough already if it becomes even more so it will be pointless , if I just wanted to watch it just to witness it, TV is a better option.

Depending on the game, the opposition, what is at stake, what is happening on the pitch (and how much lubrication i have consumed) I can be very vocal at the game or pretty quiet, though as anyone that has sat or stood near me will verify seldom unanimated), but watching on the tele or on a dodgy internet stream is more annoying than any performance I have seen, home or away.
I quite often I get worried when I see Pablo or Micah in the oppositions penalty area, at the game I take a glance and see that GB or someone has moved over to cover that area if we lose possession, on the box I just get uptight and hope.
When we are attacking I can see where the spaces are, how we are moving the ball about, see what opposition defenders are being pulled out of position, I can see changes in formation, movement off the ball, players covering for each other, none of these are available unless you are at the game.
When I was a season ticket holder I used to apologise nearly every home game before the match for the language that I was about to spew out, and explain (again) to those behind me that there was a very strong spring on my seat that forced me to stand from time to time, but there are people just as passionate about our blues that prefer to watch the game sitting down.
In an all seated ground this should be accepted (in the main), and ALL should get behind the FSF campaign for standing areas to be returned to our ground, to the benefit of ALL match going supporters.

I really don't understand why people want to sit down during the match.

Obviously those with kids, the elderly or those who are disabled need to stay sat down, but that must only count for about 10 thousand of the crowd - why does everyone else want to sit down?

I was up in 326 for Southampton and I was told to sit down by this foreigner when Silva was taking his penalty.

Didn't hesitate to tell him what to do. Who sits down when there's a penalty?

Worst thing is, one of the stewards up there told me to sit down so this bloke could see!

Ended up been sensible and did what I was told. Some dick heads about...

i think you should just be mindful of why people ask you to sit down. for home games i sit in Colin Bell levl one with my son who is 5 and my grandfather who is 80. One cant see even when he is standing and the other's knees dont work so stnading up and down isnt an option.

Not having a go but I don't understand why people take kids into areas other than the family stand. Our sons are grown up now but we always sat in family stand until they were old enough. The standing doesn't bother me, but when i see young kids and hear all the bad language, especially if the ref is a wa**ker, I always want to put my hands over the ears of the little ones. I thought the club was trying to move all famillies to the north stand.

Absolutely fucking hate it mate.

The want of fans to stand up is huge. There is space for about 3000 at City, yet every season we'd take 7000 to Blackburn and nobody would be sat down, we've taken 9000 to Old Trafford and all stood up, we took 28000 to Wembley and had about 15000 stood up.

In my block people stand up when we attack, then we might get a corner and everyone sits down but I'm still stood up for the corner and people say "sit down". I often point to the pitch and simply say "we've got a corner". Does my head in.

I don't want to sit down at the match full stop but I do because I want a seat on the halfway line on the Level 1.

For me our standing/signing section should be 101-111. At least that would allow all those who want to stand to stand.

Totally agree with you mate, you paid as much as everyone else so you have the right to stand when you want, as long as you dont do it all matcgh (as much as you'd like to).

I constantly have to tell people to fuck off re this ! it is annoying.... !

I totally agree that people behind might not be able to see, but just do what everyone else does............. stand up aswell !

bit of a silly comment. if we've paid the same, surely the person sat behind has the right to see. people like my dad can't get up as quick as others so often miss goals because of people standing up. it's not so bad if everybody gets up on mass, but when you have a sole persistent offender sat in front who insists on standing up, when nobody else does, it really pisses you off.

Always notice a heavy reluctance to sit down by many around me when we're no longer attacking and have to sit down in fear of ShowSec bullies making their presence felt. I love standing and wish there were more areas that allowed it in the ground and I think you're right, so do many others. Kid next to me loves to stand on his seat and often has to be told to sit down by his dad.

Slap the shitbag!. All seats should be fitted with seatbelts.

At the fa cup final I was in the top tier, kept standing when we attacked (habit from standing in the south stand) and it was full of moaning bastards everytime I got half out of my seat. They woudnt sing either. Some people just like to moan. If you stand when we attacked them sit down again after what's the problem?

Considering there's plenty of little uns in the North Stand there seem to be few problems with standing, everyone seems to get up together and sit down together.

The only hassle we get near us is the stewards deciding to walk down the stairs and stand at the bottom looking for toffee wrappers just when we are attacking.
