friendlies are for the players to get match fit and work on the setup of the team and nothing more

many fans go over the top about the games and the score
yes you got to have them and i understand them but i hate them

Do you reckon Mancini over reacted considering it was just a friendly

Yes. Its not as though he was clear through on goal in a cup final, is it?

Whats to hate? can't take this lot too seriously can you.
All harmless holiday fun really init? a pre-season of Disneyland?

FACT, In the 16 days over there the three match attendance's, combined, wouldn't fill Eastlands.

The main thing is they had fun and are chill-axed, and ready for the real thing.

Seems like it's gone crazy over the past few years - more publicity means more cash and what used to be games that were barely noticed, are plastered all over the tv, just so Tv companies can fill up the summer soccer channels.

Sums it up that the Guardian sports section headlines on an incident with Balo, which would have gone unnoticed not long ago, deciding it was more important than the Copa America!

That's the kind of mixed up news agenda that the NOTW would have followed. Embarrassing journalism.

training sessions and nothing more yet you get the same daft reactions every year

im glad mancini thinks the total opposite and id say 99% of football managers around the world.

To be honest I was more concerned with crap LA Galaxy players trying to make names for themselves by going all in in a friendly, almost costing us Clichy and Micah.

Sorry to be pedantic but:

Vs Club America = 11,250
Vs Vancouver = 24,074
Vs LA Galaxy = 24,897

Total = 60,221

Be a bit of a squeeze getting that into Eastlands!!

But I do fully agree with your sentiments.

Totally agree - fairly pointless from the fans point of view, which is why I only occasionally attended first team friendlies (before they all moved overseas!), the matches usually descend into farce once the mass substitutions start.

The thing i like most is seeing the youngsters get a game. I'm gutted that Suarez couldn't play in the first 2 friendlies. Can't imagine he'll get much game time in Dublin as Mancini will probably want to fine tune the big hitters.

Yeah, Clichy took a right knock didn't he? Thought he was cleaned out when he got up, he could barely stand!
