I hate the People that hate the cook haters!

Claimed it was largely his choice to bring Hughes to us to guide us to the promised land and 18 months later said he was no longer the manager that could take the club forward.

You have to remember at the time Hughes was a great choice, we didn't have a pot to piss in and he was a proven shoestring manager who'd done a good job at Blackburn. The situation changed massively and then Hughes was given a decent crack at it before we got rid.

I neither hate nor particularly like Cook. Strikes me, he has said some pretty stupid stuff for someone who is paid shit loads to publicly represent the club, amongst other things. He has said and done some things that have made me cringe but then he shows an obvious passion for the club, which I do like about him. I don't think people who don't like him are any more clueless or brainless than the people who blindly ignore any mistakes he has made and claim that every single criticism of him is completely fabricated by the media.

There is no such thing as bad publicity, every single thing that Cook has done and I mean everything has raised the profile and awareness of our beloved club, do you honestly think that Sponsors want to be associated with a club that don't make the headlines, of course not and thats why the quality of our sponsor is increasing.

He is doing an absolutely sterling job, the press try to put negative twists on things and successed with a minority of city sheep and the vast majority of city haters, of which grows day by day, however if you see through the lies and media spin you see that cook really is doing a job second to non, sometimes in business you have to take one for the cause and cook has done this brilliantly.

Look at the bigger picture not just what the mirror tells you!

Hang on a minute. Where is there any suggestion that I believe what The Mirror tells me? My view on Cook is reasonably balanced I think. You seem to be completely blinkered to anything negative about him, even the stuff which has been well documented as being factual, and you show blind loyalty to the bloke. That is far more "sheep" like if you ask me. As for sponsors not being bothered about negative publicity? I suspect Tiger Woods could tell you something different.

It's not just the tabloids who have a go at Cook. The broadsheets do it as well. On Friday the Guardian Sport had on its front cover an article about the spat in the Directors Box with the Everton fan

The media have a go because he is the public face of the upstart Manchester City.,......the "Project Leader", something which they find ridiculous which is why they ridicule the man at every opportunity.

In essence that is why Sheikh Mansour bought City. City are one of the few clubs which have the potential to be the biggest in the world, but getting there will create waves and put noses out of joint.

I suspect Garry Cook enjoys his job very much. It's a fantastic opportunity. At heart the detractors in the media don't like the idea of MCFC matching Real Madrid, Chelsea and co. and it has nothing to do with the professionalism of Cook himself.

Cook has made some gaffs in his time but what he has done for this club since the Sheikh Mansour has come in has been immense.

Umbro
Ferrastal
Etihad
Etisalat

Are all sponsorship deals he has brought into the club which have huge financial gains. Plus the fans forums, indoor ticket office and new superstore are all projects he has undertaken for the good of the fans.

I like him and think the good work he does get's lost in his slip up's

I can imagine the deals with Etihad and Etisalat were particularly difficult for him to broker. I am sure those firms chose City because Cook is so good at his job. To be fair, I am sure he is excellent at lots of elements of his job, but he has made mistakes in terms of some of the negative publicity he has courted. I think the people who think it is ALL some media conspiracy are as naive as people who believe ALL of the stuff in the papers. As I said, don't love him or hate him, as usual the reality is probably somewhere in between.

The media are so against him so I am totally for him.

The media are cunts and hopefully they will die nasty smelly deaths.

Cook in!

Disagree, City attract attention and comment not because of what Cook says, but because of what City are trying to do. The rest of football regard City as a laughing stock so when we put in place plans to propel us on to the World stage they regard this as ridiculous. Not a conspiracy as such, but they have got used to a rigid status quo. If we knew our place in the world we'd get a nice pat on the head every now and then

So you think literally ALL the negative press that has come Cook's way has had NOTHING to do with him saying some stupid stuff? I'm by no means a Cook outer and yes, I do realise that the media have an agenda against City at the moment, but that is all the more reason for him to be a bit more careful when he opens his gob and not give them free shots at City/him. His good points probably outweigh his bad points but I really do think he has brought some of this on himself.
