How many of you used to buy the season review every year no matter where we finished in the league? I did.

The only 2 I've bought since 2011 are from both our league title winning seasons. I guess I didn't want to watch the other ones because we 'failed' in winning the league.

Is that really the way it should be? Afterall, aside from Liverpool and United's dominant periods, teams only ever won maybe 3 titles during eras and decades of great success and we're well on course for that.

Are some of us now guilty of not enjoying the football on the pitch, not enjoying the day out with family and friends and instead basing the quality of our experience on whether we win the league or not?

I feel like the pressure of social media, the media in general and the impact this has on every day football conversation means that unless we meet the 'expectation' of winning the league then we're simply not going to enjoy the experience because we will have failed in our objective.

Am I guilty of wrongly expecting that unless we match the successful of Liverpool and United then we aren't performing well? I wish I could go to the match and just enjoy it for what it is, and if at the end of the season we win the league then brilliant but if we don't, at least I will have seen some great players and seen some great games and goals.

I guess it's impossible for us to win the league every season and there's so many teams with money and top players now, it has become more difficult than ever to win the league year on year. Logically, that would make my win the league or else mindset completely out of line.

Is anything but the league title a failure for you and would no title this season mean you wouldn't have enjoyed the ride?

Tbf and in mitigation the other 3 seasons we haven't even managed to mount a proper challenge. I think that's what upset so many blues.

I actually remember a lot of people being down about the season when we finished 2nd and got to an FA Cup final, before we'd even lost it.

This is why supporting a "successful" team is not as easy as people make out. There is no real enjoyment in winning games, as there is the immediate fear about the next one and every defeat is magnified because it means less chance of winning the League. Expectations means less enjoyment. Instead, the enjoyment comes from moments, eg last season, Lovren's header against Dortmund was the high and walking out the ground is a buzz. Ultimately it meant nothing, but those moments need to be cherished.
You have had Aguero 93/20, nothing will ever top that, you have had the ultimate moment, that meant everything....

I think it's down to indiduals and how they're made up in life. I love watching us play, I hate the breaks and summer where I feel lost so, whilst there's nothing I would love more than winning titles, cups et al, I would never prioritise that over supporting my club, team, manager. Yes I swear at the errors or the odd lacklustre performance and I am nervous every game and frustrated as hell when it goes wrong and ecstatic when we win but that's football and why it's so damned addictive and popular. I would never ever want to win titles at the expense of verbally abusing the players/club/team. I love the game, the ride and the spectacle that is football and feel blessed that I've got to witness two great periods in our history and now, regardless of the fickle 'must win every game 'or 'the players are shit type fan' or abusive opposition fans and the anti City media brain washing that exists, the football being played by City is as exiting and entertaining as I've ever seen and the best has yet to come.

Flattery will get you nowhere.

For anyone remotely interested in American sport, there’s currently a huge debate concerning the future of the Chicago Cubs, who for years have attracted millions of fans, almost as much for their self inflicted failure, as their ability on the baseball field. You could even argue that the Loveable Losers were more Typical City than Typical City.

Last week the Cubs finally won the World Series for the first time in 108 years, and they even had their Lescot cock-up, and late Aguero drama.

Their victory parade attracted 5 million spectators, (apparently the 7th biggest human gathering in world history, eclipsed only by a few religious festivals, and public funerals in India, Iran and Iraq)

The players have become Gods, but already there’s already a feeling of sadness and anti climax. Things will never be the same, and ironically their fanatical fanbase now stands accused of bandwagon support.

So it's not just City.

I've been watcing City since 1966. On average 80% of games I've seen have been mediocre, 10% very bad and the others have been realy good. Winning a trophy is a bonus. Good times bad times we are all on the same ride. Don't get into the media shite, they just piss on Joe Public all the time. Hold on tight and savour the moments past and present.
