I think there is a middle ground here.

I think we have to be realistic and look at how we've played and our results since after the first 5 games and say it is unlikely we are going to win enough games to win the league. However it would be a massive shock if we didn't comfortably finish in the top 4.

If you look at our remaining fixtures on a game by game basis we will be big favourites to beat Villa, WBA, Stoke at home and Norwich, Bournemouth, Swansea and Newcastle away. Which leaves UTD and Arsenal at home and Chelsea and Southampton away where we are more likely to drop points.

Out of the ‘easy’ games if we gain 15 points and in the harder games 4 points, which I don’t think is an unrealistic expectation we will finish on 66 points and comfortably in the top 4. If we have a slight raising of our performance and gain say 19 points from the ‘easy’ games and 6 points from the hard games we will probably be close to wining the league on 72 points.

I personally think we will around 66-68 point mark about 5-6 points from the top and be kicking ourselves at the lost points and missed opportunity to win the league.

Wow, the levels of pure delusion in this thread are astronomical!

We have shown zero evidence of consistency since the first 5 games of this season, yet you all magically think we're going to put a run of 8-10 winning games to snatch the title or come close to it.

No.
We are in a serious fight that could realistically end up with us in anywhere from 1st to nowhere such is the mediocrity of the contenders this year.

Before Wednesday I thought that if we win then we would go on and win the league, after the defeat, no chance, but let's just see where we finish and try and enjoy the rest if the season, we still have the derby to look forward to.
