I still think we will win the league

There is no given that the team will click. There is no given that they won't. The reality right now is we are still in the mix. You never know. We needed to win today. We did. Next step Norwich.

I'm not optimistic about our title chances this season.

I think over the past 5 seasons we have been by far the best side in the PL but haven't turned that into dominance. Arsenal, Chelsea and United have all had stages where they have been the dominant force. They are sides who have retained titles, gone far in Europe along with a sustained title challenge and blown their rivals away.

Whether it's a mentality issue for us I don't know but we seem to be a side who only wants to just do enough. We are happy to rest on our laurels and instead of going for the jugular, we seem to gift our opponents a way back in. I know people say it's in our DNA to do things the hard way, but it also requires a huge amount of good fortune.

Eventually our luck will run out. Look at Villa and Newcastle, teams who flirt with relegation every year and now it's looking inevitable that they will go down. The PL is so competitive that if you don't take your chances you will fail.

We need to start putting ourselves in a position where we are not relying on other sides to slip up. We certainly have the squad to do it. In the past we have been hunting down single sides whereas now we need both Spurs and Leicester to go on a poor run of form. It's highly unlikely IMO.

That said, all we can do is start to play as we all know we can. We are more than capable of winning all of our remaining games. The sides above us will drop points of that I am certain. So we are still in with a chance. However, I just don't see us having the mentality the capitalise on their mistakes.

Next time there is an athletics meeting on the telly, just watch a medium to long distance track race. Just take note of how each of the runners run their race, make a note of their relative placings at different points in the race and see who wins and who loses. You will get your answer right there.
That has fuck all to do with football.
You used running cos it suited your case, I'll use tennis. You don't see the top players gifting their opponent a 2 set lead, no, they forge ahead and press home the advantage.

By the same token you won't see any tennis players pack up and go home because they happen to have lost the first set or two. There will be dozens of examples where tennis players have lost the first set and even 2 to come back and win. Those are the wins that are all the sweeter for it. It's called being a fighter and not a quitter. It's also called having bottle and not being a cheese eating surrender monkey, the likes of which seem to be infesting this site just at the moment.

Dafuq? Not even the same ball park.....literally.
And just to pull you on the tennis example, I've seen lots of matches where players are two sets down and come back from the dead and win......and that's because they are champions and know how to bring it back.

I think tennis has fuck all to do with too, I was just illustrating how I could also use a sport that has nothing to do with football as an analogy to suit an argument.

Leicester keep pulling away and the season is drawing ever more quickly to a close. I know we're capable of going on a unbeaten streak till the end of the season but one more loss and I fear it's curtains for us in the league.
