I urge the Queen not to come to Ireland.

can maggie thatcher go over with her to !!!

King Billy and Oliver Cromwell with an escort of Black and Tan's are due to arrive the day before.

i am a salfordian born and bred but my mum hailed from gort an choirce in co. donegal. i know a lot about the the histrory between our countries!

I would have thought that as the peace process and reconcilliation has been moving forward for quite a few years that the irish people would raise their eyebrows , get on with life and largely ignore her presence!

Many members of my family live in the gailltact (?) and are peacefull people who wish no malice on anyone. For that I am gratefull.

What i would say is that regardless of opinion of the royal family in this country (and it is divided) if the queen was assasinated in ireland then no irish family / person would be safe and that is for sure! The hatred would be astounding and as i know that 80% of irish people are non political it would be a disaster. I for one hope those bigots talk shite!

I hope for the same, but there is a bit of a upsurge in dissident activity at the moment, I think the queens visit is agitating it further.

If Hitler turned up in Israel, there might be a protest or two.
So if the latest in a long line of genocidal maniacs, mass murderers and ethnic cleansers has the gall to visit a stadium where people were routinely executed for their nationality, then do you really expect their descendants to cheer and wave Union flags?
I agree with salfordpaul entirely but going to Croke Park was always going to be controversial at best and inflammatory at worst.

And just 2 days before 'Wills' marries 'Kates'... you sir are a fucking disgrace.

The British public have paid billions for this wedding and people like you, reminding us of the families tradition of murder and rape, are just bumming the rest of us out.

Repeat after me: Fuck Queen and country
Repeat after me: Royal Khemer Rouge (Probably spelt wrong innit blud)

As a English fella living in Ireland for the last ten years I don't think she should come, it'sjust stirring up the past. Going to croke park is a disgrace.

People must understand the royals and that class of people are the nemesis of the Irish. Rich plummy voiced land owners persecuting the natives pushing them into poverty and despair for years and years. Forcing thousands to emigrate and many to starve etc.

Just in regard to the people not knowing the history this is fairly common in England I certainly wasn't taught in school, They are not doing it to annoy the Irish it's genuinely the truth.

And though I do believe the England as a nation sometimes need a push towards looking at the darker details of our past. I also think the Irish should appreciate that a lot of English also carry the same feeling towards the upper classes, and as we shouldn't stereotype either should they. We are not all died in the wool unionists.

If she does come which I'm sure she will. I hope it passes of peacefully but irelands in a funny spot at the moment the country is broke, and people have genuine grievances about life in general and it only takes one nut job to cause maximum damage.

If she came during the boom I dont think anyone would have batted an eyelid, probably would have been delighted to show her how far the country had come since the Brits f@@ked off, but it's changed alot now and the old grievences are coming to the forefront.

Ireland is at a bit of a crossroads now the next few years

great post mate.
