I want Bale

A player like him would give us a new dimension on the break. Most of his best plays are when he breaks with the ball, which makes sense as a player that fast loves to exploit free space. Can you imagine the breaks he and Kun could combine to make?

We don't break often but part of it is because we lack genuine pace and direct players like Madrid, Tottenham, Napoli, and Barcelona (who actually break fairly often).
Our one dimensional play has been an obvious issue for a long time and probably the one that has cost us the title.
I agree. Much of our best play comes from our right side, Bale would add a certain balance to the team. I think we could keep Dzeko if we had a player like him. I don't see Spurs selling though. It'd be a saga worse than the Modric one. He is their talisman. Without him, they aren't half the team. Not even top 4 material, imo.

Mancini in an interview with Tuttosport:

"Last year Bale had already proved his value but his career had not yet taken off.

"Now you would need a lot of money (to sign him). He is a very expensive player.

"Certainly, Juve with Bale would gain a lot.

"Moreover, what is certain is that if Tottenham decides to put him on the market, Bale would be the strongest target in the summer.

"Perhaps he (Bale) is the only player who is not a striker that can make a difference.

"Without him, Tottenham loses 50% of their potential."

If they maintain their current league position it will be difficult to see him leave, however, whatever their claims,Spurs are still a selling club so if the right offer comes in,they will sell, same with Modric.

And without Redknapp at the helm, the task will be an easier one,as those two players, especially Bale, probably feel a personal debt of loyalty.Money would also be available for the new boss.

-- 02 Apr 2012 07:24 --

Valencia and,to a lesser degree,Nani are others.

There's just no way getting around it; Bale would be immense in our squad and would without doubt add a dozen to points to our tally.
But unless Harry leaves, I'd say Bale us untouchable. If he leaves however, and we slip Bale a note containing an unbelievable contact I think he would try to make the move happen himself. Of course he'd like to play for us, and the likes of Silva, YaYa, Kun and so on.

If he's cost us £35mil... wouldn't it be worth it?

If we could sell 5 or 6 of our players this summer get our wage bill down then negotiate with spurs starting with 25m bid with the top limit we would offer of 40m would spurs except 40m?

It takes time to build a balanced world class squad. Mancini should be given until Christmas to prove we are moving in the right direction. As I've said before this summer window is make or break for Mancini and will determine whether city move forward or standstill. Mancini would undoubtly have brought in more players with real quality e.g. Hazard, Gotze, Martinez, Hummels, T Silva if he wasn't shackled with all the deadwood we have from the previous incumbent.

Mancini like any manager will have his priorities and as these are addressed, improvements can be made elsewhere with each window. Last season was all about not losing by using a 433 system. This season we are still good at 433 when used but we now have the players to allow for a 4231 system which we are also good at. With the next window we will improve our squad which will allow us to play with another system which we will also be good at. Hopefully the players aquired will give us more width, better direct play and a strong defensive but more creative central midfield. As most have commented Hazard ticks this box due to being able to play wide or centrally (when silva is injured/out of form). The same can be said about Martinez who would make an excellent pairing in midfield with Yaya or a defensive pairing with Kompany. Deadwood sales would cover the aquisition of these 2, would see a massive reduction in wages, improve the squad, improve the first 11 and give us another dimension to our style of play. Once we have these 2, we can then think about bringing in 1 or 2 specialists e.g. Bale but the key to improving is upgrading what we already have while meeting the FFPR.

I agree with those who pick out certain players who he has purchased who have not performed but the squad jigsaw can't alway be created in the order you want it to due to availability and money.

Would love to see us sign either Bale or Ronaldo, and as I assume Bale would be a whole lot cheaper to buy and provide wages for, let's go for Bale big style!

We could double his wages and still have him among our mid-tier earners..

Last season he had half a good season (and most of his performances were overrated). Much more consistent this season, great delivery, great dribbling, pace, skills in abundance.

Sign him up

If Spurs want to stay in the champions league places they are going to have to break there wage barrier. Bale and Modric have been the key factors for them getting champions league football what will be 2 of the last 3 seasons same as what we will be getting 2 of the last three the big difference is that they are being paid a lot less than our players and playing with worse either way i think Bale will want a paypacket that reflects his current value which might lead to a few problems for spurs. If they give in on those 2 i would imagine a long cue forming outside Levy's office and any player coming into the club will want a wage of an english team in the champions league. if they dont give them the pay rise and sign players for 40-50 grand a week again this summer i think there is a great chance that Bale will look for pastures new, with chelsea and arsenal likely to improve in the summer with big signings or at least chelsea not going big for spurs might just be a backwards step that puts next season top 4 challenge a bit beyond them

Rag's set up with one winger today with Evra providing most of the width on the left side.

I reckon a Bale could do something similar for us like Valencia for United. Most of our best play comes from our right side.

On the left, Bale could provide width, and on the right, we could still have Micah bombing forward providing width.

Problem is how do you get Bale.

Bale is great, but we really need is central back, hope we can buy one or two more world class central defenders.

We do need a world class centre back but are main problems are definitely out wide. We need to sign preferably two FAST wingers because wingers are what will break down stubborn away defences look at valencia for the rags against blackburn for example. Can't see spurs letting go of bale but hazard and lavezzi would be sweet. One CB, one CM 2 wingers and less important but a better LB than kolarov and we'd be complete. Probs won't all happen this summer but that should be the long term aim.

Should have tried harder to get Alexis Sanchez. Look how he is performing at Barca now he is a regular and injury free. Could have sent Udinese Tevez for him had it been a few months later. To be fair he was set on Spain.

I'll take Bale instead.

You contradict yourself.....

Sanchez was set on Barca(as you state...)apparently we could have done no more.

Bale would be awesome.

Yes I know, but Robinho was set on Chelsea was he not? Sort of similar? All I am getting at is we could have 'tempted' him a little further and shown him what we were planning. Even if we win the league this year and attack the ch. league next year, it will forever be tough to pit ourselves vs Barcelona in a 'desirable place/club' battle. It's Catalonia/Spain v sunny Manchester f.f.s.
